I wish people would leave this kind of discussion to actual engine builders.
1.) The rods in the VHR are forged. I can't think of a single import V6 engine that has come with cast connecting rods since 1993. 2.) Stock Japanese crankshafts are all forged now, with little need for upgrading unless you want to stroke the engine or are pushing some serious specific output. 3.) Many newer high-performance import engines come with forged pistons, but not of the strongest 2618 alloy and instead 4032 or similar alloys. This is due to the low silicon content of 2618 causing greater piston expansion during operation. A factory engine cannot be built to proper specs with emissions and reliability in mind with 2618 alloy pistons - the piston-to-cylinder wall clearance must be very high in comparison to stock hypereutectic or 4032 alloy pistons (0.003-0.005" vs. 0.0008-0.0012" or so). That said, the forged rods that come with the VHR may or may not be strong enough to handle a certain amount of torque output. As with the rod cap fasteners as far as being able to handle abuse at a certain power level or RPM. In addition, the stock pistons - even if 4032 forged (looks are deceiving, they may still look like cast pistons) - aren't very strong given the 11:1 CR.

BTW, powder-based rods are classified as "forged" for all intents and purposes, due to the process involved.

6 vhr rods > 8 stock chevy 350 '83 camaro rods. they aren't bad people here are running 500hp across 6 rods without problems.

GTM is making their own version of the GTR Intake... There is a LOT of work involved in making this fit perfectly. Be patient... if you think you have it hard you have NO IDEA! this is my baby and I saw it a couple weeks ago for the magazine shoot and now I get to hang around the car for a whole week and cant even start her up!!!!

I am uncertain whether it is the upper or lower intake manifold. However, I believe along with you that it will most likely be the lower intake manifold. dont worry your investment was well spent!

Do you personally think that there will be a benefit to this intake manifold for the N/A guys? I know that the most improvement to be had is in the lower intake manifold from the looks of it, it would be my next big mod if it helped out the N/A setups too!

I would love to be able to give you a firm answer on this. However, we are still in the fitment stage of the development of the product. Give us a few weeks with the product after we finish the fitment and we should have some base numbers. Mike p.s. I havent seen the difference between the stock airbox and the GTR one... However, the runners on the GTR intake are able to flow some serious air!!! I personally think that everyone will see benefits from this system.
