so is your Z the only 370z that is actually having the motor built and reinforced to withstand higher PSI?

bullitt5897 07-20-2010 12:40 PM

Yeppers you got that correct I am as of this moment the only Z with a built motor.

 Can't wait to see the finished product! :excited:

But this isn't going to end up as one of those big build projects where due to a turn of events, the owner/creator has to part with the car for cost savings? That would be a real downer... :(

You're gonna have so much fun when it's done lol. ah0le... :roflpuke2:

No offense, but I doubt that. If I've read about at least 1 instance of somebody having a "built motor" on a fairly obscure 370Z community, then there are bound to be at least a handful of other built engines out in the wild. It doesn't cost that much to swap forged internals into a V6. Somebody with pockets almost as deep as yours has almost certainly blown a VHR under boost, and has long since replaced it with a built version.

If what you're saying is true, call up every Z performance house and ask if anybody has ordered any forged pistons or rods for the 370Z yet.

I really admire the work GTM is doing on your car, but claims like I quoted above kind of make you look like an ***...

Well, he's the only built Z that's documented on the internet is what I think he really means.

And you know just as well as I do that nothing is real until it's been confirmed by the internet.

Exactly, :iagree:

The internetz is reality! If its not on the internet it never happened! Just ask Al Gore he invented it!:tiphat:

Let's not rain on his parade. All that matter is that he has one awesome project, and kudos to him for what is a large investment that will help this community, future customers (for parts), builders, and tuners.

I already have plans with FsP (got the gauges so far). It's nowhere near as crazy as Mike's project, but it will simply involve a GTM Stage 1 kit AND (hopefully) a VR38 intake plenum (which is why I'm here)!!! It will become a reality once I get everything.

He is a pioneer son!

Ok well to be technical; lets just say he is the first in recorded history! :)

There is a built 370z flying around here in South Florida. I am about 97% sure it is built.

I remember seeing it when I finished installing the S/C on my 350z.

I know I've asked this before, but if you go with a stroker kit can you raise your redline running 12.5:1 compression? My mechanic has an e46 m3. He built the motor (no stroker or sleeves) and he's running 12.5:1 compression. He said anything higher then that will require race fuel and he has his redline LIMITED to 8500. Nissan saw it to fit the Z with a 9K tach, I've love to get it as close to that as I can on a built short or long block.

m4a1mustang 07-21-2010 12:47 PM

They also saw it to fit the car with a 180 mph speedo. It's all marketing.

NYBladeZ 07-21-2010 12:50 PM

I'm sure bullitt can get it there when all this is said and done. If an N/A inline 6 can do it I'm sure the vq37 can.
