I'm not going to disclose my costs but if you want to repeat this exact build expect to shell out $50k clams for this part of my build alone.

370z TT 07-15-2010 06:24 PM

Are you going to be able to run at 1000rwhp for prolonged periods of time, or will it only be useful for dynos? I can't wait to see this completed

bullitt5897 07-15-2010 06:38 PM

Yes the car will be able to run 1000rwhp for prolonged periods

50K! that is absolutely ridiculous and a Rip off, I would rather buy a Cosworth TT crate engine and drop it in that puts out more power for 30K. That better hold together for long periods of time for that price.

You are crazy, no doubt about it. Undergroundracing can give you 1000 hp kit for a ferrari F430 totally complete and done for 50K, 1100 for viper etc..

Wow! Very harsh and uncalled for. Its his money.

What are you, my mother? That is ridiculous, it is a great build, don't get me wrong but not even practical expense why, the car is only worth 30k. Just an opinion. don't get your pants in a wad dude

bullitt5897 07-15-2010 07:22 PM

Like I said I won't disclose my pricing and for your info this kit is capable of WELL over 1000rwhp.... The build goal is 1000 RWHP and BEYOND!!! The kits you mention stop at those goals or on their best day make those numbers. Believe me when I say Sam has REALLY made this car a part of their marketing program to prove what they can do and what the platform is capable of.

I don't want to sound like a jerk but you my friend are talking out your brown hole... Those cars in themselves cost way more than the Z will even if I did the build twice. So you tell me... Spend $100k's for the lesser performance and a name OR spend less than $100k at list price and blow everything on God's green earth away?

I applaud your build and your defense, but I don't know how you're going to actually make 1000 RWHP usable. Sounds kind of like many Supra builds that have occurred in the past - cars that are more dyno queens than track performers. I believe it takes 1300-1400 WHP for a Supra to even break into the 8's.

If you do straight out admit you're building a dyno queen, then bravo. :tiphat: But if not, I'm curious as to what the purpose of the 1000+ WHP will be.

The high hp application for this car is the Texas mile

That's right... I should have remembered that from when I read the rest of the thread.

Good luck with smashing some records there. It'll look good for every single 370Z.

Btw the supra inline 6 is a totally different animal then our motors. This car will never see a hard launch at the hi power levels. Everything will be soft launches as a hard launch will upset the chasis and cause traction issues and instability in handling. As time goes by and I get used to the car we will see what the track usages will be Time Attacking or even Road Racing a 1000hp vehicle is a whole new ball game. I have a friend with a 700hp supra that goes to the track he turns the boost down and literally just coasts thru turns and then rolls on down the short stents and straightaways it's ridiculous cause I'm full throttle and he rolls past me like I'm parked. His lap time are seconds faster than mine and he doesn't work as hard. Like I said two totally different approaches to racing.

your not a jerk, it is just an opinion, you totally are explaining my point. You are telling people this build complete will most likely a total of over 60 or 70 G's plus your thirty for the car. None of those kits cost twice the price of the cars they are being installed on. There are far better proven engine developers for half the price, why invest double what the car is worth? seems silly to me. You can buy most of those lower cars for 50 or 60 grand with 50k miles or more, since they totally rip everything out of the engine, transmission, etc and replace it all with new beefier and better components why not start with something a little better, love my Z to death since I paid for it, but I have driven porsche TT, a 360, F430, gallardo, a ZR1, and if I could afford to upgrade, I would! Love my Z but there are better cars to do this too for the same price and even less if you search hard enough.

You have a great build and it is sweet, but most of us that can afford a Z cannot ever afford to pay more than twice the price of the car to mod it. Seems rediculous IMO, not cost effective for this general crowds budget but cool.

You're missing the part where he says GTM is making it's part of its marketing campaign and that someone would need $50k. He didn't say he paid $50k... ;)

LateralG'z 07-15-2010 07:54 PM

Marketing is for selling purposes, that means they will most likely sell this and offer it! Who cares what he paid, he is the Guinea pig he gets at cost and if they destroy the car that is his risk. People want to know the price so they can do it maybe.

bullitt5897 07-15-2010 07:59 PM

I can guarantee you that those hi hp engine builds in those cars cost way more than 30k! Even the APS TT kit for the viper will cost you 20k installed and that's just a TT kit! I know of the companies you speak of and heard of many of their car builds and they simply are not putting into their builds the amount of parts that this one is getting. They are not receiving a racing motor... They simply are getting beefed up rods and piston heads and a piggy back ecu cause if they went haltech or similar that's more than $5k in ecu and sensors. Last time I checked a full haltech or pro efi system for te Z was going to cost in the neighbor hood of $7k with all the options if I recall correcty. Let's look at Hennessy who does 1000hp+ vipers: you pay in excess of $60k+ for their kits and these guys will punch you out a 2000hp viper if you want it. Just an FYI my z cost $40k cause I bought one of the first white fully loaded Z's on the east coast. Also, If you read my first post about the cost it mentions if you bought everything at retail. Do you pay retail? I sure as hell don't. Remember you have to pay to play! If you can find a Ferrari or lambo around $50-$60k that's a 360, 430, gallardo or other you can bet it's a scam, salvaged or been highly molested and that's a fact trust me if they were available at that price I would of bought one!
