Holy crap man, that is sick, they work fast.
Id love to do a stroker on mine, I really want a TT but was thinking on a stroker first just for the hell of it, dependant on cost factor. GTM get my vote Quote:

It would be sweet to have a on board camera in every corner of that car and do tons of vid's:tup: Can't wait to see and hear this car Mike.

That's what traction control is for. Damn, unicorn blood.

It helps that a majority of everything was in stock ready to go before I shipped them the car. The only issue we had was waiting on the new piston head design from Arias... I think that took a good 2 weeks to get. Again I cant say enough about how hard GTM is working not only to complete my build but to also complete all the other builds they have in the shop! these guys are miracle workers!!! |
Usually takes a little more time than planned, but it's worth it in the end!
|
For some reason, I am getting antsy for you! Man I love this part of the build process.
|
Nice!!! I'm pretty excited for the end result! How many miles were on your car when you took it into the shop? The engine looks so clean.
|
The car had like 15-17k on it but the motor had only about 5k on it.
|
Mike, what are you plans with the heads? Running OEM heads? Any idea on what redline you guys are shooting for? Will you be keeping it stock, higher, lower?
|
and will this thing be streetable?
|
Stock rods look pretty beefy. Very similar to the stock Evo X rods (which are relatively strong, but ultimately pretty weak compared to aftermarket offerings). Something tells me the stock VHR could make some impressive specific output with just replacement pistons or even just looser ring gaps.
This build will be impressive - the Z platform is a good one on which to build an output monster. Well, except for the really short wheelbase... but that just necessitates more driver skill or better traction control algorithms. |
to answer everyone's questions...
Heads: We plan on using the stock VVEL heads that have been worked on by GTM with a valve job and more. At this point this is the extent of that build after we get results and I have had the car a lil while we may approach the heads again another time but until then this is it. Streetability: Yes this car will be streetable and will be daily driven... will it be driven on 1000rwhp no more like 600 or so rwhp on the street. Stock Rods: They are pretty beefy compared to the older models but again like you stated compared to the aftermarket these are relatively weak. The stock rods can easily hold 500hp at the crank and I do not have knowledge of anyone really taking and running a motor beyond that realm for extended periods of time. This platform is a great power platform and many people will see great numbers out of their engines with the GTM products! |
Cost on this project?
