I'm looking into switching to E-85 now. Trying to get a quote on installing a fuel cell/fuel system and bigger injectors. So far the companies I emailed have not replied.. Might have to hit up AMS.

Default Stabil

I live in Virginia and all the pumps are 10% ethanol. I follow Pat Goss's (automotive guru, MotorWeek TV, Goss's Garage radio show) suggestion of adding some Stabil to my tank every couple of fill ups.

This has the added benefit of removing any water that may have formed in your gas tank.

Stabil now makes a dedicated ethanol treatment as well.

Now we traded in that avalanche for one that was the regular engine and found that it made more than 35+hp than the last and was only about 1-2 real mpg less than the ethenol on a bad day. Trust me she probably got bad gas! I had that happened in my s2000 from quicktrip when they switched to their winter seasonal blend which so happened to have WATER in the fuel!!!! I thought I blew a headgasket!!!! Nothing like driving sown the road and then wam no throttle response and white smoke coming out of the exhaust! I was freaked as I just put in my emanage ultimate with a new aggressive race tune... I literally shat bricks!
Think of ethanol as the governments way of being a shady bar. You go in paying for pure alcohol but what you get is watered down beer.

Ethanol just allows them to give you the same amount of fuel but not use as much petroleum and still charge you the same astronomical price at the pump.

<<< GOV happy we all don't mind a corroded engine and higher gas prices.

I don't know much about this stuff. Stage II on the way, and I don't want it to mess anything up even for daily driving:

I guess it's fine as long as it is tuned to support it. It looks like he has to dump more fuel to reduce the likelihood of running into a lean condition. Eh... this stuff is way over my head.

IIRC, ethanol warning signs are removed some gas stations so it's a hit or miss. That's pretty scary, but it would be nice to see some official testing and results other than stuff I've found here:

Ethanol Producer Magazine | EthanolProducer.com
The Independent > Archives > Opinions > Letters > Don?t remove ethanol labels at pump

I don't know how reliable the site below is, but it mentions some of the symptoms people described like water in the tank (possibly leading to leaner condition?)
List: E10 Engine Damage & Performance Issues.
