Whats wrong with Hennesey?

Here's where this question was asked on another forum a couple of years ago, and someone provided other links to past stuff, etc... So is Hennessey Performance Engineering a fraud? - SportsCarForums.com

^Yep.

Ok Josh, It's time to chime in again and say you have no new developments to report.

Thanks,

yes, where are you on this ? :excited:

Josh@STILLEN 06-10-2009 09:54 AM

It's in development, it's going extremely well, and it will be a while before release. We'll definitely pass updates as we have them.. :)

ZforMe 06-10-2009 10:03 AM

Will adding the supercharger require tuning?

Josh@STILLEN 06-10-2009 10:07 AM

Tuning will be included..

ZforMe 06-10-2009 05:58 PM

I'm guessing by your answer that this won't be considered a DIY install.

What if a person has HFC's, CBE, & Tuning by let's say UpRev. Would the UpRev tuning be pretty much useless if the plan was to add your supercharger kit down the road since the vehicle will be re-tuned?

Junior370z 06-10-2009 06:36 PM

Say the someone orders a Stillen S/C kit and decides to install it themself, would they have to mail in or drop by the shop and have the ECU retuned?

CBRich 06-10-2009 08:04 PM

A DIY install option would be nice. Maybe purchase an updated ECU with a core refund?

travisjb 06-10-2009 10:57 PM

Also would be nice to know if you plan to have agreements with installers in different parts of the country or if you plan to just start local... thanks

Solus 06-10-2009 11:56 PM

ok i know there isnt a ball park figure for this yet but anyone know how much something like this would typically cost?

Phimosis 06-11-2009 12:22 PM

My understanding is that the hp gain from ECU tuning is mostly from ignition advance. Having more ignition advance on a boosted engine at high rpm will give detonation, which destroys engines. So... You need a map with ignition advance when you're not under boost to maintain good power output, throttle response and fuel mileage. Then, under boost, retard the timing to prevent detonation.

This makes tuning an ecu for boost a must.

The kit (as they do now) will be with complete installation instructions that any trained and experience mechanic can install. Obviously it's preferable to find a shop who is expertly familiar with adding something as fairly complex as a supercharger, but there is no specifically challenging aspect to the install, as we'll do all of the R&D to make a bolt-on kit.

In fact, I would imagine it will be an install option at Nissan dealers who deal with aftermarket products. Hundreds of our superchargers have been installed at the Dealership level for the Z's / G's / Titan / Frontier, etc.

Being that the goal is CARB compliancy and 50-state legal, most dealers are comfortable with the install.
