Zen and the next level for Project Mothra
Ever since our first discussions about Project Mothra, people have been encouraging us to explore forced induction. But, after discussions of the "Zen" nature of true Japanese tuning and how it's not all about the HP, plus the amazing results we got from Smoky's tune on our car that added only 20-25 wheel HP, but made a world of difference, we were perplexed. Should we venture down the FI road, given we already have what is probably the most perfect 370Z setup imaginable? Or, if we do go that route, do we do it Mothra-style and really blow it out? What do you guys think?

Balls to the Wall!!! Take no Prisoners

You are asking us questions that only you have the answers to. :happydance:
I've just always wanted to say that. TT setup. Please do it. |
FI. The car looks like it has 500+ hp. You know the drill.

Not many takers on the zen approach, huh? We actually spent quite some time with John P. of http://maydaygarage.com/ who makes a pretty adamant argument for understanding the subtleties of true Japanese tuning. And make no mistake, Mothra is a potent beast now. The rush of power is immediate. Every single added drop of performance and power is accessible, almost by shear intuition. It's clear that The Master's work has made a difference.
That said, a Smoky-style burnout (by a professional driver down a closed-course that vaguely resembles Westheimer) by virtue of a few hundred extra horses might be fun, too. We just think maybe this car deserves a kit nobody's seen before. It looks like you feel the same way. Keep the comments coming on facebook: Project Mothra | Facebook . As we said, this is only the beginning. |
Oh I'm all for the 'zen' approach. But your own website says you'd build a beast that cannot be contained. You don't want it contained?
Forced induction is the way to go  |

N/A high revving if you want Zen. I would looove to see NA.... but I'd be pretty happy to see a built supercharger setup too. I don't know that I would like to see another TT built block car though...
Either way this has been a fantastic build so far. |
I want this thing to have the GTM SDS installed, i wanna see some actual real world abuse testing done on this thing because it hasnt been done yet.
|
Go all in...
|
1000+WHP built plz.
|
Ah screw it, design a Veyron eater.
|
Zen? Psh please if you wan't zen go park the damn thing outside a Buddhist temple and appreciate how at one with the environment it is while it isn't running. I love the japanese approach I see it as 2 guys in the car going for a drive
Driver: Ahh oh yeah feel that? Passenger: what? this isn't much faster than my HR. Driver: no no your supposed to be appreciating the ZEN Passenger: OH sorry i didn't realize that, well you do have a nice interior |

I say you ship that car out here, let us build a motor and supercharger for you, and let's see what this puppy can do! I know you want this car to be different, and I promise you, I have enough ideas in my head to make it different...
Real Mothra isn't very "zen" http://www.wired.com/images/article/...illa_500px.jpg |

i wanted to do this idea for my z but i cant justify it enough to follow through with it...
how bout a twin rotrex supercharger system... |
I would like to see it done right, all blown out. New low compression pistons then have Stillen do up a custom super charger kit, put up some big numbers, and finally just because you can feed her a bottle.
|
Twinzzzzz :D
|
N/A.
|
i think you need to stay different how about electic superchargers? i'm sure you could fit like 6 in there

I would love to see this N/A setup or the SC Stillen proposal without a doubt. I feel the Zen approach is great if you're doing Touge or some sort of class oriented track driving when you want to keep within a class. SIDE NOTE: For anyone curious about this Amuse kit, I saw it at Import Reactor, and it looks WAY better in person. THE ONLY thing I don't like about it was on the rear bumper, the part in the middle that is black, I would rather not have glossy but would rather flat black. Loved it other than that. I feel the Zen approach is great if you're doing Touge or some sort of class oriented track driving when you want to keep within |
