He's still using the VQ37 block, just bored and stroked to 4.5L. The max size you can bore out the VQ (if I remember) is ~4.2L.

I believe the VQ35 and VQ37 are the same basic block, the VQ37 simply uses a longer stroke. Everything else on the engines are different, heads, crank, rods etc.

You know what I meant-the starting point for the 1000hp kit is a stock VQ37-but it has been bored/stroked to achieve 4.5L.

The VQ35 and VQ37 actually are rather similar-the VQ37 is an updated version. I'm not saying they're clones, or just a few parts differ, but it's a twin-intake, 95.5mm bore, all-aluminum 4-valve-per-cylinder DOHC engine. The VQ37 increases bore by 4.6mm, introduces VVEL, and increases compression from 10.6:1 to 11.0:1. They're not all that different.
