Torque is way off
I just noticed looking at everyone's dyno charts that those that posted before runs and/or if compared to other's stock pulls, that Stillens dyno results show an increase in torque almost twice as much as those that have the kits. I wonder why that is?
Even those with custom tunes are not realizing as much gain in the torque numbers. |

They have a new tune now that should improve the A/F ratio, as well as them having UpRev at their facility this week for more fine tuning. I got an email from Kyle where he said (in summary) that they had some bits of data that they weren't able to override because they couldn't figure out where the instructions were coming from in the code, and that is why they had UpRev come out to them. He said they have the tuning done and now are working on the hot startability. -- although I had the problem hot and cold, where overnight (cold) is 80F. Hopefully answers will come tomorrow? |

I posted my before and after Supercharger dyno in this thread, post #976. Here's the dyno: I post my before and after bolt-ons on a thread in the tuning section, because I had my car tuned by technosquare and posted it to show people how the Z does with an 8,100 rpm redline. Dyno charts are in the thread (June 09) I gained 27 hp with g3 intakes, headers, cats, exhaust (stock tune). I gained 42 hp total over baseline with bolt-ons and tuning. The baseline run on the before/after supercharger was with the ECU set back to stock tune. The super charger added 108 hp and that 108 hp gain is very real and you will never, ever come close to that with bolt-ons. It wasn't however, as much as Stillen advertised with their press car, so I forced the issue and took my car back. Unless Kyle comes up with a "the sky is falling" story, My car should be done tomorrow or next week at the latest. |

8000rpms shouldn't be a problem especially if you aren't taking it to the limit all the time.
This has been one of the biggest up and down threads on the forum. It was all great when Stillen did their press release, then the tunes all stopped working save a few. Then it looked like RCZ and his custom tune with some supporting mods made 450whp on a dynojet bringing back some enthusiasm and now it looks like many of you aren't event hitting the advertised dynojet numbers. This seems almost like false advertising to me. It shouldn't take a custom tune and a plethora of supporting exhaust mods and drivetrain mods reach the advertised power. Stillen should have been more honest or at least waited until they had done a few installs to see if they could meet their own expectations. I guess we'll have to stamp this as incomplete as the fall rolls on in.

This highlights the issues with testing on only one or two Stillen owned cars before releasing the kit. Since each car is slightly different, a setup can work perfectly on their 'guinea pig' but can act totally different on another car. The problem is that bugs like this tend to come out once customer cars come into play.

man if GTM's kit does not make the advertised power (torque especially, I don't care as much about the whp) then the hell with this I'm gonna save up some more and go TT.
