This new supercharger system from gtm looks amazing. But I was just wondering, isn't that technically called a procharger or is procharger a specific brand name for a type of

Default supercharger looks like procharger.

This new supercharger system from gtm looks amazing. But I was just wondering, isn't that technically called a procharger or is procharger a specific brand name for a type of supercharger? I was under the impression a procharger was more like that of a belt fed turbo. I know that a standard supercharger mounts on top of the engine. But I believe a procharger mounts on the side like a turbo. Sorry if I'm wrong. I couldn't really find any major differences.

Procharger is a brand name. The type of supercharger you are talking about is a centrifugal supercharger. The ones that mount to the top of the motor (generally replace or bolt onto the intake manifold) are either roots type or twin screw.

Procharger is a brand name for a self contained or centrifugal supercharger. Those are the ones that look like turbos used in the gtm kit. The "standard supercharger" you mentioned is a roots type supercharger like the ones you see on top fuel cars. Hope this helps.

Ya I was just reading that. I wish I had found that before I made the post. I'm wanting to buy a nismo 370z and get about 500rwhp out of it without putting to much wear & tear on the engine. At first I was looking at the GTM TT kit but as I was reading about the specific superchargers I've come to be impressed that it would be much safer to use a centrifugal supercharger instead of TT kit. Does anyone have any good recommendations for one or have I pretty much hit the jackpot with this new one from GTM? Whether or not I go with the TT kit or SC kit would it still be a good idea to invest in some forged piston heads, rods, and sleeve the engine?

Probably need a performance clutch, new brake calipers, pads and...anything else?

Kinda off topic but i would defently go supercharged if it was a root style or twin screw style supercharger. The power is the same however the sound of a root/twin screw supercharger is amazing. But since the kits arent those type im gonna have to go with twin turbo..lol. BOV also sound nice.

Hopefully not to add any more confusion, but the GTM SC is not a centrifugal. It is a rotrex. I believe the Stillen kit is going to use a centrifugal, though (Vortech).

You are adding confusion! Rotrex's superchargers are a type of centrifugal supercharger.

Vortech, Rotrex, Paxton, Procharger all make centrifugal superchargers.

To do that means top mounted supercharger, with a replacement hood or large cowl to clear the blower.. which most are unwilling to do..

Especially since the engine sits higher in a 370Z/G37 than it does the older 350Z/G35's..
