GTM Performance Engineering 370Z SUPERCHARGER KIT PRESS RELEASE

We are please to announce the GTM supercharger system for the 370Z. Our GTM supercharger system will be utilizing the Rotrex C38 supercharger, The Key to the Rotrex supercharger is unique compactness, efficiency, low noise and reliability and its state of the art traction drive technology.

Great speeds and low noise are just some of the advantages of traction drives over traditional gear transmissions. Traction drives transmit power through friction forces between its rolling elements.

The Rotrex traction drive uses an elastic annulus with a small pre-span to secure contact between the roller planets and the sun shaft with a reasonable force. The patented "ramp effect" increases efficiency and reliability in the transmission by regulating the torque transfer capability on demand through self-adjusting planet geometry.

To enhance performance, the Rotrex traction drive uses a special traction fluid. These fluids are a new family of synthetic hydrocarbon oils and greases offering a series of unique performance advantages. Developed specially for its use in Rotrex superchargers, the SX100 momentarily increases viscosity under high surface pressure, enhancing the traction drive performance by securing the optimum friction between rolling elements while cooling and protecting the system.

This traction drive combined with the latest technology in centrifugal compression, characterized by high adiabatic efficiency and low noise, gives Rotrex superchargers an exceptional competitive edge over any other forced induction solution.

The GTM Supercharger kit will Have four different Rotrex compressors to chose from: C38-61 Trim,C38-71 trim, C38-81 trim,C38-91. Combined with our custom compressor housing we will offer three different stages .

Stage zero up to 450 HP (carb approval pending)
Stage one up to 500 HP
Stage two up to 525 HP
Stage three up to 550 HP

All of our Supercharger kits are available in two forms. The tuner kit form, so the professional and the end user have the flexibility of choosing what ever fuel and engine management they may desire and feel comfortable using. The second option being a complete kit including fuel and engine management solutions. With that being said, GTM will also offer an extensive range of fuel system and engine management modules to go with our Supercharger kits.

Some Key points about the GTM supercharger kit

After literally installing and tuning every supercharger kit available for the VQ platform and seeing their short comings, we got the inspiration to develop a kit superior to all others. Problems with the other kits that we wanted to address with our own include: not supplying a descent amount of power, belt breakage and slippage, obnoxious gear lash noises, limited power expansion and lack of the OEM look. Some of the key things we did to achieve our goal are:

SUPERCHARGER NOISE : We chose the Rotrex unit, a very QUIET supercharger compared to anything else on the market .

SUPERCHARGER BRACKETS : Our supercharger bracket is 3 dimensional made out of of thick billet aluminum to prevent any flexing, we also mounted the supercharger unit as close as possible to the engine to limit the amount of flex possible, as well as keep the belt length down between pulleys.

BELT AND TENSIONER DESIGN : We have over 80% belt wrap on our supercharger's pulley and with utilizing the factory automatic belt tensioner over or under tightening is simply not possible.

POWER EXPANSION : Changing the pulley on the super charger is less then 20 mints job

AESTHETICS : The GTM Supercharger kit maintain the clean oem look

ENGINE MANAGEMENT: With using the GTM flash we are to able to maintain the OEM drive ability so the car will run like stock, only with a lot more power .

POWER DELIVERY : The GTM supercharger is best bang for the Buck out of the box

ok now I really want that proposal from you

huff442 03-01-2010 06:16 AM

Incredible piece of work! That's just a work of art. Sam, what will the price difference be between the Stage 1, 2, and 3? I'm interested in the Stage 3 system, including full exhaust. Do you recommend your 2.5" or 3" exhaust? Will this setup work with long tube headers? Yes, lots of questions.

shumby 03-01-2010 06:16 AM

So I am in at the pre order price right? Even thought i will ont be getting ti installed by you until may/june? Do you need a deposit?

shumby 03-01-2010 06:17 AM

plus one on the LTH as I have them ordered.

LiquidZ 03-01-2010 06:46 AM

hmm, I must have missed when Stage 3 turned from the 81 trim to the 91 trim.

Sam, take a nap

m4a1mustang 03-01-2010 06:49 AM

So does the intro pricing apply to all trims?

Good question.

Also, I noticed that the C38-91 won't be out until late spring/early summer of 2010. Any comment?

Quote:

Higher flow capacity for the C38 range
Rotrex is in the process of expanding upwards our C38 range, and we will target both increased flow capacity and a further increased efficiency level. With the future C38-91 we aim to deliver at least 10% more boost than currently available with the C38-81. Expected availability late spring/early summer 2010.

FWIW, I'm interested in the Stage Zero turn-key kit. $4995 for ~420whp is a great deal, IMO. Interested on when the kit would actually be available and what kind of pricing I'd expect if I ordered after the introductory offer period.

... another good question. I won't be ready to go FI for some time.

CBRich 03-01-2010 07:14 AM

That is a fantastic deal. I gotta talk to the wife.

bullitt5897 03-01-2010 07:42 AM

Sam! you guys just knocked this one out of the park!!! with that price point you should sell ALOT of kits quick!!!

Red370 03-01-2010 07:51 AM

I was shocked at the pricing, PLEASANTLY shocked, i was expecting somewhere around 7k, bravo GTM, BRAVO.

One_Quick_Z 03-01-2010 08:04 AM

WOW Thanks for the info!! That is an amazing price!

I will post this on ChicagoZ to make sure everyone knows :)

DAN

puckshaw 03-01-2010 08:13 AM

Wow this is exactly what I was hoping for! Wonder how long the intro pricing will last. I'm still a little ways off from having enough cash.

Barvo GTM, barvo :)

Kastley85891 03-01-2010 08:15 AM

Nice work guys
Any ideas on install price (drive off) ? with the fair deal here, install costs are more reachable ;-)

Fuel upgrade costing, I assume , single pump , 600cc DW injectors etc.
Will you have relevant starter maps for the popular tuning platforms?
PM if you want.
Cheers

I think you'll still end up around $7k if you try to "do it right" as it were. Think clutch/flywheel, gauge setup, and perhaps some installation cost.

Still, $5k for a turn-key kit that puts out 420whp is very sweet. I was, like you, expecting to see something in the $7k range.

RCZ 03-01-2010 08:35 AM

I like what you did with the recirc, clever placement!

Got any pictures with the bumper on??

Good pricing too, its exactly what I expected.

Few quick questions...

1) Which trim is that in the picture? Looks like a tight squeeze already, wondering how the bigger ones will fit?

2) 90* elbow after a flattened intake tube and two 90* elbows on the way to the intercooler?

3) Hydrolocking concerns with the filters at the lowest point on the car?

4) Does that oil cooler sit behind the stock bumper?

5) What kind of dyno? What did the stock 370z put down on it?

6) Spellcheck

JB-370z 03-01-2010 08:39 AM

Sam you are going to sell tons of kits!!! Well done. As far as the Nissan aftermarket goes, I think I would take you guys for parts over stillen any day of the week. Masterminds in the Nissan/infiniti market, pure genius, congrats!

m4a1mustang 03-01-2010 08:39 AM

Raul,

My guess is going to be that hydrolock isn't much of a concern. Even with the "bulkheads" removed I don't think spray is going to be a big problem (the filters are far enough off into the corner of the bumper area that it's going to be tough for a significant amount of spray to make it's way over there.

I'm sure it will be fine unless you drive through deep water.

As for 2... I think you're right. Probably not ideal but my guess is it's the best solution possible given the space available.

2fast4thelaw 03-01-2010 09:28 AM

WOW! :tiphat: Good work Sam

I am actually very happy to eat my words from my previous predictions. I did not expect this kit to come in at 5K but I am very happy that it did. Damn it Sam, Now I am going to have to re-think the whole SC vs TT setup again after I thought I had my mind made up. I love how clean it looks under the hood and it sounds really sweet! Either way I go, without question GTM is getting my money!

I am very impressed with the results at stage1 on stock exhaust.

:excited::excited::excited:

Let me add, NICE machine work! I am very impressed!

shumby 03-01-2010 09:29 AM

hey Z if you are talking to Sam again get him to get me an e-mail he has my address. I cannot call him as I am in russia. I want the preposal he promised me. Really excited now

Yeah man, my bumper is less than 4 fingers off the ground... 6" of water and that lower intake is submerged. I have seen waaaay deeper puddles around here. I'm just thinking what would happen if I had no choice but to go through something deep?

And yes, it was the best solution...if you put the sc there.

Steve, looks like you're gonna be making quite a nice amount of power! Congrats and you must post pics and review when you get it!

kdoske 03-01-2010 10:22 AM

This is awesome

I wonder why the pics are not loading. If I quote sam and copy and paste the actually links into another window they load fine....

I have one question though with the oil relocation kit. It looks like the oil filter would be right against the bottom engine cover. What happens when someone uses a sandwich plate for the oil an oil cooler, which is pretty much a guaranteed item?

To Shumby

I spoke to Sam last night for 45 min at 11.00pm. I reminded him that you sent him a "PM".
He recevied it but has been too busy to get back to you. He has been up to many late nights working on the SC. He told me that he will get back to you ASAP.
I did not forget you, "my fellow Canadian "
Did you see the Hockey Game.

2010 Olympic gold metal Champions.
It was madness here in Toronto last night.

shumby 03-01-2010 11:23 AM

Thanks for looking out for me. lol

Ya the game was stressfull. I got to see it but all in russian. lol Made $50 off of it too so it was all good.

travisjb 03-01-2010 11:30 AM

Sam, congrats. I think you're doing the community a service with this pricing, so thanks for digging deep and making it affordable...

some more questions:

- I'd really like to see the weight of the components listed out... what is the net weight change for someone pursuing each kit stage? we can do the math ourselves if you give us component weights

- I agree with the comment about the oil filter... that scares me, my car is lowered and I bottom out all the time at the track... with a sandwich plate, this thing is going to strike the filter to ground, which can only be bad... can you redesign that adapter and move it up a little ?

thanks

what a shame.............just foolish and childish.........

on that note, SAM have you pushed the SC kit to the limit, either track or street?

i figure your team had been too entangled with R&D that you might not have had the chance to test the durability and drivability of the current set-up......

Actually, it wasn't, you are really looking for something if thats what you thought. You're the only one thats reading into everything they say. I don't think they want to start drama... if they did they would've said something back when Sam said a few things about their kit that weren't accurate. Give it a break man...both companies are trying to keep it professional.

Just let the manufacturers and, more importantly, their products speak for themselves, bro. No need to instigate.
