Default Cheapest/Best(?) to get 500 RWHP?

So, I'm all over the discussions about twin turbo yielding 500rwhp + 2.5 or 3" exhaust with appropriate add on's (a' la' Fusz) and/OR ???rwhp a' la' supercharger with add on's.

My understanding is that turbo loses a bit o' torque in low RPM's and supercharger yields consistent torque/HP accross the band.

I want no more than 500-530 RWHP (lol, like that is not nuts anyway), do not want to build the motor, and want *some* semblence of safety to not grenade the motor.

I basically want a daily driver that rips it when I stomp it, but acts *normal* otherwise.

My analysis says turbo yields *stock* low end, then craziness when called on .... Basically, stock pull until the turbos spool.

Supercharger yields more low RPM fun (gas consumption) + boost fun all over the RPM range. i.e. nuts alll the time with boost on demand ....

If I want 500-530 RWHP, want *cheap/affordable* boost, low maintenence (for a modified car), and reliable/safe tuning .... what's the *dream ticket*?

Turbo or Supercharge?

Cheap is a very relative term so its hard to say what you consider cheap. Supercharger will be cheaper then a twin turbo for sure. 500+ hp without modifying at least some of the 370's engine is just asking for it.

These cars are missing low end torque in my opinion so a Supercharger just seems like a natural choice to me. Having said that if you want more then 450 on these cars I would say Twin Turbo is the way to go.

If I ever go the forced induction route I will probably go Supercharger.

Build the flux capacitor and I'll buy it ....

I agree *cheap* is relative. I know you have to pay to play and I'm ... *OK* .... with $6-10K in extras to get there.

I guess I'm out of the loop when it comes to what would have to be done to the stock motor to consistantly support 500 *min* RWHP. I understand clutch, but what else?

~450 RWHP is the max on the vr37 block? I'll trust you/the forum, but I guess I'm just out of the loop.

I know it's the eternal debate .... but seriously: 500 RWHP (possible?) + stock demeanor+ safety/reliability ....... ???

500whp+Gas Peddal=Safety goes out the window.-End Of Story

As for the reliability issue, this can be taken care of buy building the motor in some area's. But since you don't plan on doing this than it is safe to say.

N/A Engine+Forced Induction Kit=Reliability Issues Sooner than never, somewhere some how.

I can appreciate that.

I guess maybe I should read more of what Fusz has asked for on his build when making my decision. It just seems like what I've seen does not allude to Fusz doing much major engine work.

I *seems* like it's just a kit + clutch + accessories and we'll be at nearly 500 RWHP .....

If I'm wrong, my bad.

Our engine is not built for 500whp+ the bottom line is your motor is not going to last "as" long with out any mods. Only time can tell though! There are not any 370's out there that have been running boost for 30-60,000 miles. The stock motor should make 100,000 miles no prob without any major problems. With 500+whp with no motor strengthening is just asking for trouble at some point, maybe not at first. At least get the system up and runing and buy parts here and there to help build motor, but a retune will be needed everytime you add parts to build the motor. We are talking 40-50% more hp here.

im gonna kinda disagree with that. i say 500whp is fine on stock block. I doubt you will be pushing it hard all the time, so an occasional spirited drive/drag race will be fine. most efficient way to that power goal is twin turbo (i.e. gtm).. that would also require exhaust, fuel, and clutch/flywheel, and cooling. i would say it will be north of 10k. make sure u have a good tuner. best of luck

Cheap plus TT never go hand and hand.
Considering we have not seen the SC kits on the market yet and most of the TT builds are in the range of 15k or more it is hard to put a solid price on power v. price.

By the sounds of it though, it almost sounds like a Z might not have been the best choice for you. It can be easy to pop out power in the VQ but not as easy as in other cars, or even cars putting out 400-500 stock. You might want to look into evo or maybe a Vette if you want NA power, but the Z is going to cost you and if cheap is the route you want definitely stay away from forced induction.

with that kind of power goal, if you are planning on paying full cash, you can start saving now, you can have enough by ummmmmmm....... 2012.5? lol Seriously thats being realistic since its gonna cost you around $15K+ to do everything right. Saving roughly $1000 a month toward your FI fund for about 15-18 months is a hard thing to do unless your bankin. If your gonna take a personal loan, you could do it today, go the cheap route, then we all know how much the 37VHR can handle before it goes pop! DO IT!!!!!!!!!!

If your opening question is how to get 500WHP cheaply, please read up before asking another one.

for 10g's get a forged or GTM built motor a supercharger kit and a smaller pulley/retune screw 500 you could probably have near or over 600 with that just fine

We actually make a Twin Turbo Kit for the 370Z with which we have already made 500WHP. With our kit, and good tuning, you can hit 500WHP all day, every day.

If you're interested, shoot me a PM and we'll discuss more about it.

You could do a 200 shot of nitrous. Don't know if the engine will handle it, but it will be cheap.
