Mr. G. Brettin S.M.L.H. - LS TT with Extra Sauce
I feel I can actually enter this room now that my "370z" has a viable running engine. My build might be one of the slowest builds here (well documented in the Member's Gallery section); however, I understand that not everyone makes their way down that hole. With that said, I would like to introduce you to the worlds worst kept secret TT LS 370z swap.
Complete build documented here... And I do mean everything: Mr. G. Brettin's Slow Motion Leg Hump Let me know if you have any questions. I'll do my best to answer them. My hope is to show people what goes into an in-depth build and also give ideas to the community showing what can be done thinking outside the box. Well, in some cases not knowing what a box is... I had literally never built an engine or fabricated anything prior to this. My back ground is with IT Security. What I can tell you is that there are MANY areas of specializations just like Information Technology. In any case, I gave it my best efforts (even if failure was on the table). With that said... below are a few highlights (recent to oldest time order): Thanks for looking, if you made it this far... |

Appreciate the vote of confidence! Let's reserve that until we turn the power up sometime next year. I'm chasing down a ton of gremlins right now. Makes me want to burn the car down... hell, it might take care of itself.

Let my ex mechanic wire it and there's a good chance that'll happen

And about 1 year later I finally make some power. lol. Project builds.... fun... yes. fun.
Made a little over 600whp on 16lbs of boost and 550tq. BUT, cyl 7 went cold, I ran out of fuel pump and the turbos need a rebuild. The turbos pushed oil and likely put oil on the plug of cyl 7 (I need to pull the plug to verify). The previous run made 12lbs made 540/540, so that's the last decent run for the turbo before it gave out. How do I know cyl 7 went cold? I have EGT sensors hooked up and I saw the moment it went cool in the data log. The fix? I'm getting new Bullseye turbos and will hook up my other Walbro 525 pump. -Edit - The dyno pull was at 7000rpm and the engine should spin up to 9,000. The internal components should be able to take around 40psi. Last edited by gbrettin; 04-20-2023 at 03:10 PM. |

Been following this all this time - with interest.
Mostly because I have a 370Z and an LS7 Z06 car, and spare parts for both. I have built several other cars from scratch, so I totally appreciate all the time, effort and sweat that goes into a project of this magnitude. The fabrication time spent here is astronomical. Quite incredible work here!
