thank you for all of your information on this thread. stock block held up for 2 years at 618whp 12psi. decided to build the block etc. all this stuff about the head lifting doesn't give me the most confidence. but im still looking forward to my build. hopefully done sometime in February or March... with the amount of money i've dumped into my car i shoulda just bought a g80 lol ... but a fast vq37vhr is a lot cooler than a cut and paste g80. so. there's that.

What is the Red Coolant tank?? That looks sweet!

That is what I am worried about. I am right at 20psi. I am going back to get the CJM MAP sensor adapter and going with a 5 bar MAP sensor since I've gone through 3 OMNI 4 bar MAP sensors in a year and a half and the shop that I am using that mainly works on GT-Rs stopped using OMNI on all the builds he does now because of that issue. Since I am re-tuning, I figured I might as well go full 3" downpipes and exhaust which should lower the boost required to make the same power I am running now. Talked to Tony from Fast Intentions and he was thinking I would be able to reduce the psi to 18 or 19 so that might solve my problems?

That intake manifold is so beautiful and I would if I didn't have to do a lot of re-work on relocating and getting new parts for it to work on my build. I was looking for a direct replacement to keep everything I have in place

I had a lot of guys on this forum give some good info too. With the money I dropped on the Z, I could have gone a different route too lol As long as you're not trying to go for some crazy power and chase numbers, you should be fine with the head lift issue. Most of the experienced guys here like spooler say if you go for anything over 800whp is where you really need to have everything go right.

The red coolant tank is the SOHO coolant and catch can combo. They were able to powder coat it to make the red on the nismo cover.

Yeah... plan is 800-1000 range. Builder assures my motor will be able to take it. put a lot of money into it. taking their time and building it right. i'd be happy right around 800. more than enough for my local boosted vq's to give them some comp. Cant wait till this build is done. its gonna be a monster.

Good luck. If you have any questions, just ask. Don't wait until you have a disaster on your hands.

I have pretty much everything squared away... I just need to figure out how im going to get the power to the ground. my 9 1/2 inch wide enkei t6r's with advan 285's just arent going to cut it. Its built for roll racing but i'd still break loose on occasion at 618hp. i'll be adding an extra 200 now.. so I gotta figure that out. Every website i go to has different sizes etc. I know i just need to do even more research but its a daunting task. I'm still on stock suspension.. i just want something that will fill out the wheel well and not rub and allow me to put all the power to the ground. I'm not sure if i need beadlocks or not and if so which ones. All the welds I saw are 10 inches wide... do they make wider? I know im totally on the wrong site for those specs seeing as im a g37s and everyone here is 370z etc. becuase i know its def different between the two.. all the g37 websites are dead. this is the only active vq one that i could find. Anyways besides that i think im pretty much covered ... 40k later.

Clippers_FTW 01-03-2025 07:33 AM

ive been looking into the 17 x 10 because i want to retain the stock rear brakes... but.. are they worth getting rid of for the 15 x 10? are the 15 x 10 that much better?

Spooler 01-03-2025 08:06 AM

You don't need 15's. Weld sells 17x10 in wheels that fit the 370z. Not sure if they will fit a G37. Just call them up. Tires, Mickey Thompson Street R radials. I run 305/45/17. What turbo kit do you have and what turbo are your running. Intercooler size is next question. It needs to be large. 28x12x4.5 large. Suspension needs the works done. Rear diff upgrades are needed or else you may end up with a totaled car when it snap oversteers on you.

Clippers_FTW 01-03-2025 08:21 AM

I have the soho stage 2.5 (was the best/most expensive kit they sold at the time). it comes with the GARRETT dual ball bearing GTW6765R). The intercooler came with the kit but it was their largest at the time, more than likely will have to go larger. The g37s sport package should come with LSD no? i was told it did. Its not open diff like the base or journey. I've got mixed reviews on suspension. I was told the g37s sport models come with a good suspension for roll racing. if thats wrong i'll put a budget together for a good set of coilovers (Any suggestions?) also.. any suggestions on rear diff if mine with the LSD isnt enough?

Spooler 01-03-2025 12:05 PM

You are good for about 700-800whp with that kit. Your IAT's will be hot. The stock VLSD will kill you. It is unpredictable. You need a Wavetrac or OS Giken upgrade. If you are struggling with traction, concentrate on improving that. That is where the coil overs help along with a long list of SPL suspension parts. Take your time. It takes time to get these cars right and to hook. Lots of reading you can do on here.

cv129 01-03-2025 12:54 PM

Stock VLSD is half way useless even in stock power level. Plus, once the VLSD fluid is overheated, it’ll become an open diff until it cools back down.

Clippers_FTW 01-03-2025 07:12 PM

Thank you guys. I’ll look into the upgrades you guys told me about. Any one better than the other? Is the used market a viable option? Or should I get brand new? Also any opinions on what suspension to go for?I don’t need the best of the best…. No need for bragging rights… just need something that works.

Clippers_FTW 01-03-2025 07:18 PM

Tried to post a picture but it didn’t work

Both are great options if you're just upgrading from stock. The wavetrac is maintenance free. I think the OS Giken has some maintenance required but not too sure. For street use, I have no issues with my wavetrac.
