[BP single kit] Compturbo died @ 6k miles; looking at replacements

Sent you a text. You can use my CJ motorsports oil pan. May need a hardware kit for it with pickup tube spacer. Let me know.

Happy note new turbo is scheduled for delivery on Monday morning. Hoping I can cram everything together and get the car rolling before the Z get together on the 17th.

Are they sending a new one? I'm not sure what this means. I received my old one, broken down into parts but nothing new.

I was referring to the turbo that I bought through Elmo370z.

Wasn't a fan of the design of the oil less turbos and seeing these things fail confirms that they are dumpster fires.

I'm embarrassed for you.

This is the hot side bearing. Or what is left of it. Did something get sucked into the hot side bearing? Is comp trying to say it ate something with no damage to the intake fins and it took out the HOT side bearing? That excuse does not match the damage to the returned bags of parts.

When BettyZ gets his bag of parts back from comp I guarantee that bearing looks the same or worse.

Well, I spent 20 min on the phone with COMP, and in one of the units that was repaired they found pieces of flex pipe in the turbine housing....which can happen.

So yes, something could go through the turbine as well.

Got to view the disassembled failed turbo yesterday up close
Also viewed the most recent failed one that’s air cooled & less than 1k miles on it
Also noticed how the runners on the twin scroll mounting base differs on the water cooled vs. the air cooled
Kinda speechless, as I’m really unsure what’s gonna be the proper solution to get this issue worked out

Nobody here cares about one unit they repaired. What we care about is the box of junk parts that clearly have a failed hot side bearing and that stupid air cooled paper weigh sitting right next to it with the exact same failure.

Ffs just man up an admit that you tried to make the kit more user friendly but got scammed by Comp into selling junk for them.

That's not the case with Madwi's unit. The inlet impeller has no FOD marks on it. It's clean. The impeller has rub marks on the sides from contact with the volute. The shaft shows high heat almost to the inlet side bearings. The grease that was on the turbine end has changed to a waxy ash. The grease that was in the inlet side bearings is still good. The turbine side bearings failed from a break down of the grease caused by the high heat generated from the turbine end.
