WOW, Do some folks not know why OEM's started water cooling the center sections of the turbo's way back in the middle 1980's. It was for longevity. With only oil flowing through them for cooling they would fail like crazy. No coolant and oil flowing for cooling. It's not gonna last long at all. Stupid is a stupid does I guess.

Again, I have 35,000 trouble free miles on mine so I am a believer and would gladly purchase another. Some of those miles are from being in constant boost for hundreds of miles while pulling my Ice Castle. Those things weigh a lot and when trying to hold 75mph she runs in boost.

If these things were nothing but failures then COMP would not be in business.

Ok. We ALL get it. You love your S/C kit, and comp turbos…. But for the other 75% of the people that have them failing….. back to oil/coolant for them.

Well folks a little update on my twin 58mm BP Kit, lots of people complained about comp oil less turbos early on in my build, well guess what folks, the turbos so far work great(fingers crossed), so good that during some 3 wide racing at our local airport they bent one of my connecting rods....

So guess what showed up today? My spare block with machine work done by css, let the next stage of this build begin.

What were your numbers before the rod bent? Curious to see how the power delivery mid twins compare to the single.

I was running vp x85, car is tuned by seb, no Dyno sheets to prove it but roughly 500wheel torque, the bent rod could have possibly been driver error as well, I hung out near the redline a couple times during some difficult 3-4 shifts , but the rods are the weak point on a stock motor so it wasn’t bound to happen eventually.

How much PSI were you running. I just got mine tuned last week, I had the 47mm turbos and was making 444 ft-lbs and 544 hp at 9psi. I was using the 8psi springs in the wastegates so room for more boost, but don’t want to break the motor.

I’d say was somewhere around 10-13lbs. I am using the 8psi springs as well in the gates.
