Wueros tt build
Hi all, creating this thread with the intention of getting advice and input from other members for the “best” way to boost my Z. If you think I’m missing any critical components to make the build more reliable, fun, or make more power, let me know. I will eventually get the motor built and go for shoot for an 8 second pass but for now budget days stock motor is the only option for now.
Parts I have so far: (edited and updated) Fast intentions tt kit Stage 1 turbos 3” recirculated down pipes tomei exhaust Specialty Z 5 puck clutch w the HD slave Cjm s1.se fuel system for e 85 Walbro 520 Id1300x Cjm billet fuel pump hat Z1 Polly motor mounts Z1 polly trans mounts White line diff bushings Spl upca Spl eccentric lockout Spl billet tear camber arms Spl front lower control arm bushings Spl front impact bushings Spl outer tier rod ends Kw v3 coil overs Specialty z flex fuel sensor Ngk “colder” spark plugs DSS 1200 HP axles (broke one of them) Forgestar F14s 19” front 15” rear Wavetrac differential Parts I desire in the future (in order): Built motor Rest of spl stuff Z1 lightweight rotors Part I have that I need to instal: Line lock Tt 3” exhaust Specialty Z did all of my work Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I don't see anything you are missing for a stock motor build. Only thing I would suggest is a diff upgrade to come sooner than later. Wavetrac or an OS Giken 1.5 way. The other thing is wheels and tires. You are going to need some better traction right out the gate.

What spooler said. You really want a 8 second pass you will need to install a auto to keep the budget down on the motor build. 8 second is even possible with a stock block.

Diffs are so expressive, noted:( I have some v1 nismos w a little bit of meat. 288/325 but I’ll throw some 17s in the rear soon. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Well we will see what this dct holds once it’s released. I’m not a fan of the th400 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
8 second run. Use a SPL solid diff bushing. A SOHO diff cover. And extra diff to frame bracing. Replace all the rear suspension pieces with SPL parts.
Definitely need a good LSD. The lock should be at least 90 %. |
That stock block VG that ran a 8.90 on 700 something who opened my eyes.
|
Probably want an oil cooler in there.

Part of the tt kit. Also have a 24 row on now Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I'll go in with Spooler on getting the diff early on. It's a different animal when you pass 500ftlbs and the vsld oem will definitely not miss out on an opportunity to try and toss you in a wall. Another thing , you are spec'd for 1300s, one of my regrets is not getting 1500s instead. Just thinking that because your stated goals are a shadow of what's "really" going to happen. In the beginning I said "I just want to get 500rwhp and I'm done. No need for anything past that...." That all fell apart on the way home from the first dyno. Just sayin.

Dropped the car off just now with Specialty Z after the trip from New Mexico. Trailered the car to Cali Saturday, then unloaded to mob around LA a bit and enjoy the great weather. Anybody ever gone on a long road trip in their turbo Z? 11+ hours long....

Just curious, is the turbo oil cooled? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Another hard thing on turbo's. Rev'ing the motor, then shutting it off. The little rotors could be spinning as fast as 100,000 rpm with no cooling or oil.

So ideally you’d want to let the vehicle come to idle before shutting off right? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I drove mine from Cali to NM with an overnight stay in Phoenix to relax. Congrats on you upcoming build, you are in good hands with Seb. |
Well I asked Seb to install an OS giken diff and he recommended the wavetrac instead. Unfortunately they are out of stock, he presented me with the option of going with Quaife or the OSG.
Not sure if I should wait or just go osg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

The Quaife is a no go. |
Z1 and Z Speed both show they have the wavetrac in stock. Not sure if true though.
|
Fwiw, Joe had a great price when I ordered my Wavetrac.

Snagged the wavetrac from Joe. Emailed him at 11:28 his time and got a reply back before I finished dinner.... that is what I like!

Congrats on the purchase and new build OP.....Is your car as Specialty Z now? Just saw a nice blue Z in their garage bay on their IG getting ready to go under the knife for a FI TT install. What number are you BTW....

Thank you! Yes it’s with him now, the blue turd is mine :) I’m not sure what number I am because it’s a g37 kit originally. Bought it off a forum member here who couldn’t install. I didn’t see any numbers in the kit but I didn’t look to hard. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
You will be glad you got the Wavetrac. A diff upgrade is mandatory with a TT upgrade. It will keep you from killing yourself.

Motor is back in. Suspension was being put on Thursday and Seb said he’d be starting the fuel system right after.
Switched from whiteline diff bushings to some z1 bushings as I was told the white lines tend to disintegrate after awhile in increased horsepower Builds. Hope to have it back next week. Still figuring out how I want to get it home as I don’t have a truck available to me like when I took the car Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Got the car yesterday and it’s awesome! Went for a spin with Seb and he told me to stomp 2nd. Was really fun making 325s skate. Ended up not getting tuned on e85 yet because something was wrong with my rom and it won’t read ethanol. Tuner is working with ecutek to diagnose/fix it and then I’ll remote tune for e85 once they figure out all that Jazz. Coilovers still haven’t came in but everything else feels pretty great. Dying to feel how the car transfers weight with coils

1500 miles update: Car feels great still just working on getting faster. I go to Mexico about every weekend and do a lot of 1/8th street digs and the car surprises the hell out of everyone.
Clutch is holding up well although I do hear some sort of whining/whirring noise that kind of reminds me of what my slave sounded like going out when it was going out this is a Tilton so I have faith but I do beat the piss out of it..... I don’t like having the 28s on with my normal wheel/tire combo because it throws all the lights. The car goes into limp mode and does all kinds of dumb things so I’m waiting on the matching f14s to come in to throw skinny’s on the front. Taller front tire will fix the wheel speed sensors. A full set of dancing shoes now hehe. Mickey Thompson ET S/S 325/30-19 hook beautifully if you can drive. I just got my e85 tune about 20 miles ago so have driven only 50/50 e85 and 91. It feels much more crisp under boost so far. Excited to do a full tank of E. Check out how my kw v3s came :( Canceled the order from Z1 because chit customer service and am waiting for back order to clear and I’ll order another set from Lance. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c77f06ebdb.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
