Just curious, is the turbo oil cooled?

I think he is water cooled with a sealed system he adds bearing grease too every 3k miles. Your FI kit will be both water and oil cooled. Turbo's never lasted until they started water cooling them back in the mid 80's.

Another hard thing on turbo's. Rev'ing the motor, then shutting it off. The little rotors could be spinning as fast as 100,000 rpm with no cooling or oil.

So ideally you’d want to let the vehicle come to idle before shutting off right?

Spooler is correct. The current BP kit uses the Comp turbo, which is an oilless system, but still uses water cooling.

For 2 to 3 minutes minimum. 5 is better. It depends how hard you have been running your car. If the manifolds are glowing, wait longer. LMAO....

I drove mine from Cali to NM with an overnight stay in Phoenix to relax. Congrats on you upcoming build, you are in good hands with Seb.

Well I asked Seb to install an OS giken diff and he recommended the wavetrac instead. Unfortunately they are out of stock, he presented me with the option of going with Quaife or the OSG.
Not sure if I should wait or just go osg

I like my osg a lot more than I did my quaife

If you get the OS Giken you will need a diff cooler to keep the temps in check. The wavetrac would be a great choice if you could get one. That was my first choice but like you, they were out of stock.
The Quaife is a no go.

redondoaveb 08-04-2020 08:18 PM

Z1 and Z Speed both show they have the wavetrac in stock. Not sure if true though.

madwi 08-04-2020 08:44 PM

Fwiw, Joe had a great price when I ordered my Wavetrac.
