So, a Billet block will actually pay for itself if we can get one built properly and it can take the abuse. Just food for thought.

Yeah at that price point why not just swap in Gtr motor. Cast blocks hold up to 1500whp.

Or contact these guys. I believe they have built a 3,000 Hp Hr

A VR swap is something worth considering but it will come with some disadvantages, especially for someone who did an incremental build and already has tons of VQ specific components. Its pretty likely that youd need to switch to a full standalone for a VR swap as well, which can be a pretty large expense in itself. If the cost were equal, I would take a billet VQ over a cast VR. The negative on the billet VQ is the guinea pig factor for the first round of users. Side note, I would be afraid to use a billet VQ without an upgraded crank, as imagine the tragedy of losing that billet block to a cheap stock crankshaft.

Oh yeah, A Bryant racing crank would be a must. No way I would put a stock one in. LOL

Nothing bolts up. Our tranny will not work. It is more costly in the long run. Already had a conversation about it and mentioned it.

What about adapter plates or just running a gtr trans?

phunk 12-08-2019 10:51 PM

GTR trans, GR6, is a rear transaxle combined with the rear differential. While not impossible, it would be a pretty big deal to put one in a Z. At this point you’re almost out of reasons to not entirely switch platforms

10k+ isnt worth it for me. I wont run over 600whp anyways.

I just got off the phone with Mark. If we can get 5 people to commit we are looking at $9000 to $9500 for each block With the Darton Sleeves all machined and ready to go. He also suggested to upgrade the head stud size. This will require some machining on the head to accommodate the larger studs. He was recommending 1/2in. studs. As far as the crank is concerned he said he would switch over to a Bryant racing crank at around 1500hp. This is a whole lot cheaper than what I thought it would be.

You can also switch out to the VQ35HR heads if you are so inclined to do so and ditch the VVEL. You will need a standalone for this.

I'm just here to watch you spend money haha. This sounds interesting.

When I picked up my car Brian said one thing that stuck with me. It went something like this.

"Sorry Derrick that we can't turn it up more. The solutions are not out there to keep it reliable. We'll have to wait for more innovation to correct the VQ37VHR platform before we can."

After looking at my next list of upgrades it just didn't make since to go forward without the solution. So why the heck can't I push for the innovation to get this issue corrected? So, this is my push for just that. I can make this happen if I get 3 more people. So hang on for the ride and watch this. It may or may not happen. I am cool with that.
