Very nice pics. I don't have a lot of experience with turbos, but this seems to be pretty tight, right?

WShade 05-19-2009 08:52 PM

Very, very nice. Move the GTM logo to the lower right corner of your pics, its causing my eyes to cross and blocking the good stuff.

LiquidZ 05-19-2009 10:03 PM

That is so sexy.

P.S. Will there be any room to fit an oil cooler? I mean, that is a huge intercooler.

I was born and raised in the bay area now I rep socal...I can hook you up with the right people when times arise...for now you need to head over to exact motorsports in Milpitas(very close to you) and introduce yourself to John and tell him that Kevin Neely sent you! As far as smog we will talk when your car is due in 5 years...k

tvfreakazoid 05-23-2009 03:00 AM

Aren't the the air filters to low? What if water gets on the filters? Will that ruin it?

Brazilbro 05-23-2009 08:15 PM

Only if you drive through a river

tvfreakazoid 05-25-2009 02:56 PM

LOL. Damn I wanted to take the 370z mudding, drive it around flooded areas and be the first one to do that with this car.

Aw ;[ I read and read and read through the thread from the beginning, my heart pounding with each post. I knew by the time I'd reach the end, surely the results would be there!

Unfortunately I found this thread too early =[

It seems that a lot of us have made estimates on the potential cap of the VQ37 at maybe 550, but what is the limit to the transmission???

damn you must really be beating on that IS :icon14:

Brazilbro 07-12-2009 12:40 AM

clutch will go before the tranny does

BillyGoatGag 07-12-2009 01:21 AM

Right, that's somewhat common knowledge though. The clutch is designed to be an interchangeable item as it wears over time, much like tires and other frictional contact points. I'm still curious though if anyone has done any strenuous testing on the manual transmission to determine its lifetime.

The IS300 5 speeds are well known to be made of glass. They were designed for the n/a 2JZ-GE which makes such little power that Lexus never assumed people would break them.

theART 07-26-2009 10:56 PM

Any CEL issues when using test pipes?

first tranny blew because my stage one ACT clutch (20% stronger than stock) shattered my stock tranny. oh i had a lightweight flywheel also.

second tranny broke with factory clutch and same lightweight flywheel.

SAM@GTM 08-16-2009 05:57 PM
