DocRace top mount turbo.

Any one in here order one of these kits?
I know they do mostly BMW stuff. So curious on quality and performance of kit or potential downfalls. Only downfall I know of is it won't bolt up to aftermarket exhaust or Nismo models as they are made to mount to were y pipe was and not h pipe. If I buy kit I'll modify down pipe to work with my HKS exhaust.

meh... BP kit (http://www.the370z.com/forced-induct...order-now.html) is better :driving:

Mainly want to see better picture from those that have kit. If or when I buy it I'll document all the welds, fitment, upgrades and other odds and ins

JARblue 09-14-2019 01:58 AM

Have fun going first

soill370z 09-15-2019 03:07 AM

doc race makes great quality products, if i didnt just make my own kit i would have went with them

TopgunZ 09-15-2019 08:30 AM

My favorite part of this kit is " This kit come with everything you need to go from stock to boosted!"...Lol

I love how many companies feed the innocent ******** to push their products.

no one has it yet, they have not shipped any kits out but they are close.

Elmo370z 09-15-2019 02:03 PM

Buy see how it works out for you, then report any issues back here

Dahawkster 09-17-2019 02:12 PM

I’ve been watching this kit for months now, I wish they would post more dynos with the bigger turbos they offer. Seems like a real gamble to give a company $5k for a untested product. But if this kit puts down good numbers without any hiccups it will be hard to beat for the price.

Dahawkster 09-24-2019 04:01 PM

I see they are shipping some of these out today, has anybody on here ordered one?

Spooler 09-25-2019 09:20 AM

Save up and get a quality TT kit. Fast Intentions is the way to go. They just flat out work.

I am assuming you think Doc Race is some wanna be company or something, but they are actually really known for producing some seriously good kits for the BMWs. I have no doubt this kit will perform well. I was just curious if anybody on here actually ordered one. Sorry $10k for a twin turbo kit that I have to pull the motor to install, no thanks. I would rather sacrifice some performance for ease of installation and save some $$$..

Heat soak is gonna kill ya. I don't car for top mounts at all due to this. I require a kit that works, excellent craftsmanship, and has years of service. Anyone who buys this will be in uncharted territory. Good luck to them. Motor builds aren't cheap.

This is my biggest concern with a kit like this. There's a reason BP mounts their single where they do and I'm pretty sure it has to do with heat. These cars run hot N\A, I can only imagine what a top mount snail will do to under hood temps. However these guys are well respected in the BMW department so I'm hoping it works out. More options are always better.

Dahawkster 02-16-2020 11:48 AM

Ssoooooo did anybody pick this kit up and have any feed back?

EndlessZ 02-17-2020 05:20 PM

I believe the kit has fitment issues for certain years. But I don't think anyone (other than test car) have the kit installed yet. I think people are still waiting for parts as well.

Sounds like the Doc is tracing his parts out for Bubba to make them in crayon.

The header change for 15+ is the issue I believe.

Yes, they posted about it on Instagram. Being mostly a BMW focused company, I guess they missed the memo on that change from the factory. Seemed apologetic and wanted to make things right when the issue was discovered.

No personal dealings with them whatsoever, but I thought that was good of them to admit they missed something and make the effort to correct it. Can't speak on quality, but I'll echo what some other guys have said that they seem to be well respected for the work they do in the BMW community.

How many header changes has the 370z had???

Nevermind: found it...……...my 2014 OEM headers look like the 2015 ones. hmmm

The one on the top is my friend's 2012 header. The other is my 2014 header. From what I've known, the header was changed from 2014.

I also had the updated version on my 2014 even with a manufacture date of late 2013.

Yea those years stand for model years. The late 2013 is included.

I like the look of the 2012 headers better than my 2014 ones.......LOL:rofl2:

My 5.0 Mustangs had what were called the Tri-Y OEM headers that look similiar to the 2014+ Z headers and they were VERY efficient. So much that changing them for shorties was a total waste of money.

That Doc Race turbo setup price looks inviting though too bad its just for a manual transmission.:icon14::icon14:

My Z put down 600 rear whp in the dyno with the stock 2014 header. No sign of hindering performance. So changing them for other shorties would probably be a total waste of money unless you go pass the number. :D

Correct - but my point was it appears to be ALL 2014s, not a mid year switch, or late model transition.
