Supercharger Sub 12s 1/4 Mile?

Hey all,

I am currently considering a super charger (Stillen Kit) for my Nismo but I have a few questions.

1. What sort of 1/4 mile times are people getting with super chargers, is a sub 12.0s pass possible on street tyres?

2. How useable is the power, does it actually hook or is it just lots of wheel spin / TC kicking in?

3. For people who have done it, would you say it was worth it?

Thanks

I can't answer any of your questions - but look into the TopGunz kit instead of the Stillen kit. It's literally the stillen kit without the flaws of the stillen kit.

There was only one lisitng on the forums Drag times for a SC. it was in the 12's. you can find the list in the track section, stickied at the top. I believe the facebook group has a more up to date list with times.

I would suggest for you to provide more info, since there is still a very broad area to cover within the "street tyres" constraint.

Size - are you thinking 285/35/19...or 325/30/19...or go down to 18's (even 17's) for a thicker sidewall?

Compound - even PS Cup 2's are considered street legal, or are you thinking along the lines of PS4S?

Just my 2 cents, pls carry on.

Thank you! I was unaware of this kit but it does look good. Will take a further look at it.

Thanks, I have seen this time but I would have expected more. FBO cars run 12s so would have expected more from the super charger.

Hi, yes of course when I say street tyre I mean something like the PS4S on the stock 19" alloys.

Thanks

i would certainly hope a SC could get 12 or less or i'd say dont waste your money lol.

just intake, exhaust, and tune i was in the 12s.

Boost on the Z is most useful at speed. It's pretty useless in 1st or 2nd gear without slicks. You better have some tremendous throttle modulating ability to launch without spinning the rear tires.

Yep agreed, yet for some reason numbers seem rare, and the few youtube vids of acceleration are not great either.

Not 1/4-mile races, but take a look on YouTube at OKC Boostdz. He runs an A2A Stillen kit with 17psi, and absolutely crushes everything he races against. I don't condone the races he does, but his car makes some serious power, and somehow manages to maintain traction to the pavement.

Supercharged Z are easier to maintain traction vs a turbo Z ...turbo rolls on TQ much more aggressively ...most you can do is square up camber ..upgrade rear diff ...and run drag radials ....and add boost by gear ...I’m going through that now ..I’ll be testing it out this Saturday in darlington ...this will be my first time on the track soooo I don’t expect great times lol

like someone else has said SC isnt as aggressive with tq like when turbo boost hits lol

also with a good tune you can get the torque curve ramping nicely to minimize traction issues.

I managed to find one video of OKC Boostdz at Thunder Beach 1/4-mile track. I don't know how much boost he was running (some of his videos are at 12psi, others at 17), but his best time was 11.6 @ 123.89.

think the best SC time on the list here is 12.2 sooooo he'd probably have the record lol

You need positive camber due to the squat in the rear if you want a drag car.
