Hello everyone, Hopefully Im not making a repeat thread and tbh this might just common sense, but I've thought about going single turbo, but then eventually upgrading to twin turbo.

Single Turbo to Twin Turbo Upgrade?
Hello everyone,
Hopefully Im not making a repeat thread and tbh this might just common sense, but I've thought about going single turbo, but then eventually upgrading to twin turbo. Ive been trying to research it everywhere but have no found a solid answer. Really Im looking for: Single Top Mount vs Single Mid Mount ease of upgrade to Twins? Cost? What piping or extras will I need to make it happen? Will there be welding required? Will it vary between the companies or will there be an impact if they don't have the required items to make this happen? Thank you for your assistance.

Do you like wasting money unnecessarily? Because you're about to do so. If you want to boost your Z, do it with whatever you want the end result to be even if it takes longer to save up or prepare for it initially.
Most of the single kits run $7K+ with the twin kits around $9K+. Unless you're going to install them yourself, you're going to lose quite a bit of money on paying someone to install a single kit, uninstall that kit later down the road, then install the twin kit. After that, you're going to lose thousands selling the kit used. Also, none of the kits are setup the same because they all place the turbo in a different section of the car with the exception of the twin kits but they don't use the same turbos or manifolds... So, with the exception of the clutch, fuel system (dependent on power goals), exhaust (maybe), gauges, and other supporting mods, most parts of the kits themselves aren't transferable. I could be wrong, but it doesn't appear as if you're too familiar with our platform. You should read through some of the installs on the Member's Gallery sub-forum and do research on the individual kits. Soho is located in NC and would be a great place to contact for information, parts and installations (they have also recently released a single kit that they have been developing for a while). I hope some of this helps. |

Yep; as NorthStyle said,,,only a handful of companies offering kits & they focus on their single or twin setups...totally different mounting of everything.
I don’t know them all: Single kits: Boosted Performance,SoHo Motorsports Twin kits : Fast Intentions,AAM,Greddy Read through the threads & all the Pro’s & Con’s of each. With you having an 09’...you could possibly need a rebuild before installation. Also as mentioned- Soho is the nearest to you & could answer these questions, as he’s coming out with another power-level of his single kit.

Also from speaking with a friend of mine who’s installing his on Boosted Performance kit- the 2.5” Fast Intentions exhaust is a good size & they offer a connection pipe for it.
500whp is made easy from a single kit.

You can't just look at the turbo kit and stop. You have to look at all of the supporting mods that need to be done at the same time. The turbo kit is the cheapest part of the upgrade. IF you are not ready for that, then save your money. Don't be that guy who installs a turbo upgrade and several months later looses the engine and can't afford to fix the car.

Give R/T a call and ask for this deal. Drive away with more than 500whp for $13k, including supporting mods, install and tuning:

Yeah good call. I did a brief search on the overheating issue so I'll look further into that.
