So many different things can happen with one dose of bad fuel :icon14: probably much more lenient with a bad tank on a stock everything.....but boosting & more than twicing the mfg. HP/TQ could cause a big problem with junk in the tank :wtf2:

Yes I had two separate incidents, one was with the fuel pump and the other was with the injector going bad. Yes, I limit the use of pump e85 because of those issues. Seb and Tony figured out how to avoid the fuel pump issue as the issue was with the fuel pump and the manufacture would not own it but they came out with a e85 fuel pump several month and many complaints later.

So you just run pump gas most of the time?
No real way to tell if the pump e85 is bad until it’s to late?

I still run pump e85...I just do it sparingly. I run e90 better known as Ignite 114. I think out west, mostly AZ and NV the e-whatever can be not as clean as you fine in other states. I will probably get pump e85 straight from distributor that way it is clean and e75 or better.

There are a couple of e85 stations fairly close to me. The one I go to is a Propel station, it's listed on the pump that the minimum ethanol contect that they pump is e72. There's a closer off brand station closer to me but if you look at their pump, the minimum they can pump is e55. Needless to say, I'll only go to the Propel station even though by the time I get home it's already dropped one dot on the gauge. :rofl2:

You really have to read the pump to make sure you're getting the highest ethanol content.

LOL, yeah guys in Cali have good e85 and Propel is the best of the pump e85. In AZ they just call it flex fuel which mean it is a minimum of e56.

After running a few tanks of Propel after draining the 91 octane, I've actually seen e84 on my ethanol gauge.

You guys are lucky. I have one station in Savannah. I do have several Gate stations in Jacksonville, one not far from our office. That's Dew pickup point before heading home when I go.

You need to invest in a couple of 55 gallon barrels.

More like 4- 55 gallon drums. We shall have to wait and see. Gotta get the shipping figured out.

I figured you already had a pallet at the house :ugh2:
Wouldn’t hurt to put some thought into an efficient DD after you get your Z back & the newness wears off a bit...my plan is to run fuel from out of a barrel or can in whatever I decide to build; as I currently drive 500mi from tank to tank for under 30$....($26.40/12.576 gallons on 507mi last tank)....2.09 for the 87octane :wtf2:

I did the daily driver crap a long time. No thanks. I am going to have fun. I may end up running 93 at the pump. Not too worried about it. I am not suffering in something I don't enjoy to drive. It makes that 104 miles a day much easier to deal with.

Spooler 06-10-2019 02:53 PM

I don't know if you guys have figured it out yet but my car will be driven. It won't set in the garage while I rub and polish on it. Forget that. I have never been like that. To the folks that are, more power to them. I built my car to drive and enjoy. That is the only way you will get your money back out of them.

Mine only sits because it is track focused and I pound on it there. Before then I drove her all the the time. I am a utilitarian through and through. I don't by thing to sit on the shelf. Once they get to that point I sell it or give it away.
