Waiting on my Suckerpunch oil pump. Once I have that, motor will be taken to Mazworx.

Spooler 02-20-2020 05:54 PM

One thing I didn't have for my build was Catch cans. I think I have finally found what I was looking for. I like the SOHO catch can combo but I don't like not being able to see the coolant level and I would need to convert to a non-pressurized setup. I am leaning toward getting the Radium catch can setup. Looks like a quality kit.

When I ordered my pressurized catch can from SOHO there was a delay on the pressurized one's then they sent me a email saying they weren't making the pressurized set up anymore so I had to convert over to the non pressurized. I'll be pissed if I find out they're still selling the pressurized set up. :shakes head:

They are not. They found an issue with them.

That's what Nik told me too at the time. I do like their set up.

Me too. If I had a non-pressurized expansion tank I would buy SOHO's setup and wouldn't think twice.
I could convert mine, I just don't want to.

Radium makes quality products!

I am going to take the motor to Mazworx without the oil pump in hand. Trying to figure out when to make the trip.

Hopefully they ship next week. You still got time regardless.

Yeap, I have my JWT C2 cams in hand. 4 to 6 weeks wait on the custom Cp pistons at 11:1.

Noop, sticking to what I had. I was very happy with off boost response. If I don't have any knock issues or have to reduce the timing due to said knock, I am golden. The new motor just has to hold in the headgasket area, It should.

I know, I just meant if you were happy with the off boost response and everything performance wise. The only issue was the headgasket.

Smart move staying with the high compression motor.

It may be a bad move. LOL We shall see. It takes xxxx amount of cylinder pressure to make xxxx amount of power. It doesn't matter if it is high compression and lower boost or low compression and higher boost.

I was. At 800hp it would get a little un-ruley. I think I am going to stick with 22psi of boost and just go with Ignite Red 114 oct. or Ethanol One 117 oct. I really don't want to turn it up unless I have a better ECU. Motec M150. I will then be able to add some channels to keep an eye on things better via logging. Number one thing is coolant pressure. Other things are intake temps before and after intercooler (CAC), oil pressure, etc. That way we can program the ECU to shut it down before it has major engine damage.

So the head gasket let go?

I still like the idea of having off boost power.

For a street car it is a big deal. For a drag car, who cares. They are WOT for the most part.

Yeap, steam cut the top of one of the cylinders. I have a dead miss on one cylinder. I got it good.

What gasket did you use?

Not sure how they built it. Doesn't matter too much, nothing is safe for long term. Everybody is having issues. SOHO has something that is working for them. They are still testing and racking up the miles on the cars. I am doing something different.

That’s the same as I’m hearing with the high power builds here. Gaskets are letting go.

I hope I can get it right this time. Time will tell.

Crazy part is very few will talk about it. LOL I just said F it. I will let folks know and post my thought process on how I am going to fix it.

I’m sure it’s frustrating that one of the cheapest parts is causing a lot of failures. That’s just **** trailblazers have to deal with.

Here’s to you getting it right

Thanks Jwick, it will be Mazworx getting it right. I can say this, many people are reading this thread, vistors, members, etc. Some are calling Mazworx up and asking the same questions I did. Lots of people. I hear about it. I am just blown away because of it. It's just little old me. Blows my mind.

I run the Radium and they are top quality.

Motor is at Mazworx.

I don't sleep in stinky fumigated tents. Don't sleep in tents since I got out of the service, matter of fact. I don't do camping. LMAO.

Spooler 02-22-2020 07:14 PM

Had a discussion with Mark. We are going to drop the compression down to 10:1 and let her eat. I am going to fully test it, boost pressure is going up.

Spooler 02-23-2020 01:35 PM

I did get to see many cool things. Lots of Billet blocks and a few billet heads. I saw a Billet 2Jz in the 4 or 5 axis CNC. Can't remember what it was. It was doing the final machine work. It would be running for 11 to 12hrs. Just crazy.
