A noise that increases in frequency or level as RPM changes, is usually indicitive of a problem in the engine. Haiako over to Seb at Specialty Z and have them diagnose & fix it.

Change oil, look for metal chunks or glitter
Oil Analysis
Compression Test
Leakdown Test

What you describe sounds like rod knock. Which means you may need to make plans to tap into your emergency fund for a new motor.

Get oil analysis, as this sounds like a rod bearing
But you stated it’s been doing it a long time & once rod bearings start making noise
Hopefully you’ll find that it might be something vibrating & causing the noise
