Quick update:
Finally ripped the car apart today, oil galley gaskets were all intact, looks like this motor got the updated versions because they were some composite metal material instead of the old paper style. Anyway i didn't take it apart for no reason even though the gaskets didnt fail, the shitty fasteners did. On the upper galley two fastener were less than hand tight. So this is why i was getting low oil pressure drops, but no ecm codes (p0011,p0021) |
Very lucky that they didn't back all the way out and land in the timing chain.

I've read too many horror stories about the oil galley gaskets going out. I ordered EPS's kit:

Oil pressure

I am looking into a Z, and previously had a BRZ but the oil pressure light/ oil level never came on then boom the motor spun a bearing. When the motor was removed to assess the damage, there was no oil in the oil pan... I wonder if any of these manufacture sensors are truly functional... |

Normal idle oil pressure is about 35 lbs. I have the warning light on my gauge set at 30 lbs. Hopefully if anything happens. I will be able to shut it down before damage. The factory warning light pops on at about 5 lbs.

Edit: And the switch action (NO or NC) needs to match. |
Hey guys, one question regarding the part number. I'm scheduling a preventative gallery gasket replacement and I have ordered the gallery gaskets as per the part number: 13533-JK21A. The part arrived and the guys at Nissan tell me that the part which arrived doesn't quite seem like it's fully metal - more like mixture of paper-like gasket as well as the metal one. Is that OK? I mean, are the renewed gaskets FULLY metal, or are they more like a mixture of both?
Thanks for the info! |
