100 cell high flow cats

I was wondering if anyone has used these Z1 cats on their forced induction car and if so, how they're holding up?

I'd think a quick call to Z1 would clear it up =) If you do, please report back!

I did email them and Jon answered back. I told him what power I was making (540 whp) and his reply was "over time, that power will blow out any high flow cat". That's why I was wondering how other's might be holding up.

I actually talked to Jon in person saturday about this, since I have a A2A stillen SC. I blew out my berk HFC within 3 months.. he told me to stay with test pipes, ARK pipes, or helmholts to help with drone.

I plan on doing custom side branch resonators

I'm running a2a stillen also. Seb (Specialty Z) suggested I purchase a couple 100 cell mil spec cats and weld them into the fast intentions lead pipes close to the x pipe. That way they're not exposed to the extreme heat as they would be in the factory location. Looks like I'll be going that route.

I think FI themselves does the same thing in these cases. Seems like the way to go! Should be a fairly inexpensive welding job for a muffler shop.

That's exactly what they do. These cats can hold up to FI perfectly fine if they're not 2" off the back of the turbos.

Yep, you and Jayhovah are correct. I'm not sure if fast intentions sells the lead pipes separately but I can't buy them directly from them because I'm in California.

They do. Have someone you know in another state buy them and mail them to you?

That was going to be my plan but it'll be pretty simple to just weld in a couple mil spec cats.

Let me see if i can get a deal on these for you.

Shoot, I already ordered them from mil spec $189.99 ea. :crying: Thanks for the offer though, much appreciated.

I had mil spec on my car for a long time, no issues at all. They were two parallel 3" 200 cell units though.

Personally, I would not put a 100 cell in, it will be too restrictive.

Isn't the 100 cel less restrictive than the 200 cel? (No experience, but that was my understanding)

Yes, you are absolutely right. 100 cell is less restrictive...for some reason I had it backwards (clearly).

I have now/already exceeded the quota for "being wrong" for this week.
