holy torque my balls off!! About time u got some real tq outa this VQ. Why havent we seen tq like this b4?
|
Jesus....max torque by 4000rpm...very nice. How much did all that run him if you dont mind me asking?
|
Omg. Wow, just wow.
|
Siiiiiicccccckkkk!!!
|
:eek2:
What a sleeper! Amazing. Beautiful. I want. |
That is awesome. I bet it sounds mean.
|
GTM, are you all able to control timing on the G37? I don't think anyone has worked that out on the 370 yet...
|
that is one potent sleeper! amazing torque curve!

The technology we are using on thees engines is giving us full control over the ecu in the G37 and 370z . Sam |
Anyone know if the auto trans can handle the added power from this TT kit?

Why does this install seem to be making so much more power than your stage 1 370Z kit? |

Great looking build guys!
|
Very nice! Can't wait to install this on the 370Z auto when the kit comes in.
|
this makes me excited about by STAGE 3 :excited:!!!!
|
I wonder how reliable this setup would be without the oil cooler, some of us setups similar to this but don't plan on tracking often
|
Stage 3!
|
Where are the videos???

Its a basic safety margin item, regardless whether you will track it or not I would recommend an oil cooler. |

If your dropping 15-20K for this set up (after install) then 300-400 is nothing. Personally I can't afford it, really hoping the SC kits come in much less regardless of whom builds it.
One SWEET set up though! Would be cool to roll up to a light with this thing and take down pretty much anything in a somewhat conservative looking ride. |
last I checked oil cooler kits, unless they are home made, are a lot more than $300-400
|
I believe I saw the Stillen set up as low as mid 4's, can't recall which but there's another one on the sponsors site in the high 3's.
Not saying I'm going to go for one of the cheaper ones but they are out there. Personally I'd rather not compromise on such an important part but I'd have to think the Stillen set up is reliable. |

lol if you find a kit for 6k point me in that direction. No TT setup is that cheap and the prices for SC's haven't been released.
|
lol, ok literal guy. The point is whatever the xxxx.xx amount is, you should budget with more. No one should even consider force induction if it has to be asked whether an oil cooler is optional. That's an attempt to skimp and remember you get what you pay for.

GTM, this setup looks amazing but the TQ numbers are nothing like anything any of us have seen from any of the other TT dynos. I'm not questioning the validity of those numbers but just very interested in what you guys have done differently to make this much TQ, it's really quite impressive!! :excited:

The VQ37VHR in the 2008 G37 is the same as the on in the Z right? Unless there is some sort of revision, these should be possible w/ the Z as well. I haven't found anything (and I only did a quick google search) that made me feel like the engines are different, but most places speak of a "slight" difference in the 2008 G37 from the 2009+ Z/G engine.
<off topic> Really, I am on the fence. I want to go F/I, but I'm having a hard time deciding what route to go. I could go w/ the AAM kit and have it insalled while I am home on leave (which would be very convenient). On the other hand, I could go with the GTM kit and either take a road trip to Cali or purchase all the components and locate a tuner/installer in TX (not as convenient, but not the worst). I would really like to see how the TT Zs do during the summer which will actually be the time when I can make that move. </off topic> |
I will probably have the fastest Z on the boards by then ;) I talked with Sam at GTM and a lot of my parts and supporting mods are stacking up :D just waiting on them to ship so I can get the install process moving :)
good luck, mike |
I will definitely watch for your thread detailing your turbo intsall and stuff.
|
It would be insane not to install an engine oil cooler on a TT VQ but I am wondering why the differential needs its own oil cooler? I have never heard of one being used or needed.
|
Speaking of...
What's the deal with that crazy NISMO one. Has the large heat sync style fins on the back. Is that thing overkill or really some value behind it? Anyone know? |
This is Robert, owner of the car in this thread. I had the car built for endurance races. The rear diff cooler may very well be overkill but I always err on the side of safety and reliability. Like others have said there is no sense in spending X amount of money without adding at a minimum of .5X for safety and reliability. For those of you wondering parts + install cost about 25K and took 5 months for GTM to complete. This is not my first highly modified car and I have learned from my previous rides not to skimp on cooling and sensors. I had orginally opted for an upgraded radiator however, it never became available.
The car has excellent driveability and it can truly be used as a daily driver if one wanted, although I do not. I drove the car 1600 miles from GTM in California back to Dallas and had no issues with the car to speak of. I did get stuck in some nasty California rush hour traffic and other than my leg getting tired from the pedal effort required for the OS Gikken clutch the car was very easy to drive. I never really opened the car up as I was travelling with my son and didnt want to take any chances. The fuel economy was suprisingly good, I was shocked that I was getting about stock MPG. The car maintains 80MPH at 2-3% throttle in 6th gear. To pass those who chose to drive 50MPH in the fast lane a quick downshift to 4th and about 40% throttle will get you moving in a hurry and back to a normal cruising speed. I have learned that you can not be too heavy footed on the gas in 1st 2nd or 3rd gears as you will spin the tires and go nowhere. I honestly have not had the oppurtunity to take the car to a track and really test it. I've only gotten into the turbo's a few times but when i have the car does not act like a wild drunken mad man like my Supra used to, rather it acts very delicate and poised with a nice linear acceleration after the initial surge of boost. I appreciate the comments about the 'sleeper' look as that is really what i was going for. If anyone is really interested in the car it will be listed for sale in the next few weeks. |

So in all you are looking at around $9k for the kit (includes tune), $1500 for the exhaust, $400-$1K for an oil cooler, clutch and flywheel ($800-$1K), and whatever gauges you want etc. I'm sure track guys will want a diff and tranny cooler. Guys chime in tell me if I missed any supporting mods for a street car.
|
oh wait $700-$1500 for downpipes
|
clutch, and a few grand for the install
