Rough Idle / Running Rich after Supercharger and Z1 Tune
Hey guys,
Firstly, thank you to anyone who helps me on this issue! So let me explain a little about what is going on.. I installed a STILLEN SC kit on my car not to long ago (2months) and had it hauled to Z1Motorsports so Jon could tune it. He did so getting the car around 425wp and everything ran fine. Even from the shop I had an studder in my acceleration once in a blue moon. A week or so after the custom tune I notice when cold start or even at a warm idle the wideband would surge, bounce from like 15.8-13.7 approx. You could hear it in the exhaust note too. NOW my issue is that upon cold start and even warm idle, say at a redlight my wideband stays around 10.0-10.5!!! and the idle acts very odd, choppy almost. I had that issue only when fueling up my car. Wound up being my manifolds burned a hole in the purge valve hose confusing the ecu to think it’s getting more air than it really is and compensating. I would start by checking for any leaks. If that checks out then I would get back in touch with your tuner.

Suggestions on checking for a leak? Carb cleaner and spray n' pray?

I see you have a bunch of upgrades except for cooling the charge air. Any chance a heat soak incident caused the computer to tweak the tune? I think you need to at least do the frozenboost upgrade.

BOV sticking? Also, check your PCV/breathers. I've found that that changes the idle a lot. You don't need to change them, just pull them off and shake them. If they rattle, they're fine, if not, they may be gunked up and you can just shoot brake cleaner through them until they rattle. They are a one-way check valve, so make sure you're shooting the brake cleaner through in the right direction.

If you don't have an air/oil separator, then you probably have the stock PCV valves sticking out of your valve covers. They have long hoses that get T'd together and routed back to the intake snorkel (between the intake Y and the supercharger). They are little plastic fittings that might be blue, but I've seen them black also, and they have a 24mm/1" hex base. I'll see if I can get a photo...

Here you go. This first one is on the drivers side of the car, behind the supercharger on the valve cover:

I will be cleaning these as well, also will be boost leak testing after I do some cleaning!

How about this sweet boost leak tester I just whipped up at work
