Wonder if Stillen can beat GTM's price or at least match it, with the massive R&D they put, it looks hard

Damn, I know... I was surprised to see the 5K price tag.... It was definitely what I was hoping for but I didn't think it would happen... Its crazy, now it just seems like everything is happening all at once and I'm overwhelmed... Stillens is going to be coming out soon and then it will be decision making time! I can't believe the time has almost arrived! lol

I don't see how Stillen could beat that price, especially with the new intake manifold.

I think its going to come down to their relationship with Vortech to help keep pricing down. The fact some Vortech employees met with Stillen to see the kit might be an indication of some sort of "collaboration". This is all theory of course and should be taken with a grain of salt.
If the power is good, and the quality is great, pricing should be scaled appropriately.

Hey Guys,
I can't say too much other than we are right on track for our release date of early March. I'm sure that some of you want to see dyno numbers, and pricing, and boost pressures and all of that good stuff. However, I hope you can understand and appreciate the development we are putting into this kit. On Friday we went to the Marine base runway to test the kit under extreme driving conditions. It wasn't just to spin the tires and take some pretty pictures. We really wanted to push the car hard to see what would happen with everything. What would happen with the oil temperature? What would happen with the intercooler efficiency? How would the transmission hold up? In our opinion, and maybe this is because of our background in motorsports, performance on the track and on the street is far more important to us than one dyno pull. Now that we know how well our kit works when being pushed to the limit, and we know that everything is safe on the street and will work flawlessly on the track, because we have tested it, we are even more excited! Like I said, we're still right on track for our early March release, stay tuned! |

We have had a very good relationship for many many years with Vortech. We are one of their authorized warranty approved installer's and we have been selling their kits for years. Back in the 90's and early 2000's, we developed supercharger systems utilizing their blowers. So, they know that we know what we're doing and we know that they build a great product. As far as the collaboration on this project. Vortech came down to the shop for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Prior to that they had no input on the kit at all. They gave us some minor details like the orientation of the blower, the ideal amount of belt wrap and information like that, but they did not work with us on the R&D. By the way, when we're all said and done I think you all will agree that the quality and engineering in this kit is incredible. |

^ agreed. That is salesman jargon, but he did bring up a very valid point. I have no affliation with either company but you're statement is correct. The other kits' price is extremely nice but until it is put through some real word testing its not an option yet.

For the record, I am in no way saying that GTM's kit is not good for the track or the street. If you search back through you will see that I have never said anything negative about the GTM kit, nor will I say anything about their kit (positive or negative) without having seen it in person.
All I've said is that we've done our testing on the track and the street. I have no idea what testing GTM has done. I have no idea what they're data looks like. No one other than GTM knows what they've put into their kit and no one other than STILLEN knows what we've put into ours. All I ever said was what we did for our testing. My remark about not releasing dyno information is to explain that things can change after testing. For example, if we had gone to the track on Friday and we found that the car just had too much boost, guess what, we would have changed it. So, that would mean that any dyno we put out before that would now be worthless. If we went out on Friday and found that we were having clearance issues on our intake path, again, our dyno's would have been worthless because a re-designed intake could have improved or restricted our air flow. Just to clarify, because someone will twist my words around again...Our testing on Friday went extremely well and we did not have to change anything. Everything fit perfectly and there were no issues with clearances or anything. We did make some adjustments to the tune but that was only because during our testing we found some areas where gains could be made. As I've said before, I am not going to comment on the GTM kit. All I'm going to do is give the member's of this forum insight into how we do our testing and our development and the engineering and thought that has gone into our kit. Again, I have absolutely no idea what GTM has done during their testing. For all I know, they might have had the car on a track and driving around town as well... I don't understand people who feel the need to stir the pot when there is nothing to stir. Last edited by Kyle@STILLEN; 03-01-2010 at 01:14 PM. |

Kyle,
I'd rather wait until you guys have it right than rush this. Besides I wonder how many of these tire kickers really have the money now to purchase your SC.
