Would rattles like these be covered under Stillen's warranty?

no discussion thus far about clutch/flywheel combos...would a JWT setup be more than adequate or does it look like a spec stage 2 would be better up to the task?

I can hear a lot of gear back lash noise in the vortech, this is why I prefer the Rotrex unit, it sounds a lot better. Turbochargers without a doubt sound the best but then you have other issues from the Turbo to contend with.
It will be interesting to see the Stillen setup in action vs the GTM setup as I like both units. I feel the Stillen setup is far superior except for the compressor unit. GTM has the better compressor but I doubt it will perform as well becasue the stock intake and air to air intercooler will not be as effective as Stillens water to air intercooler. But, we will see when both setups hit the dyno. Not to get off topic but I hear rumor that GTM will be making a single turbo kit for the 370.

I'd love to see some single turbo options. I've been wondering if anyone was going to do this, but didn't know if it was tough because of the VQ engine or not. Seems like there's always something difficult with our engine and mods.

it's not gear backlash it's gear noise you only have backlash between spinning faster and spinning slower like right at the top of revving the engine between rpm going up and down for maybe half of a tenth of a second. All straight cut gears sound like that at those speeds there is nothing wrong. helical gears would be quieter but they eat more power and are weaker. the noise is probably due to improper set gear mesh, bearing issues or more likely a crappy jack shaft setup which varies from application to application.
Edit: notice how the rear side pulley on the jack shaft is moving when he rev's it = bad alignment with supercharger + bad mounting the whine could be belt bind and the pulley's screaming at the guy telling him they don't like to bend. thats for the squeal as for the chattering in some of the videos THAT could be backlash from the motor speeding up and slowing down at idle. again its due to the straightcut gears and not having a backlash eliminator(sheetmetal gear, or a two piece adjustable anti-lash gear) Last edited by 1slow370; 01-26-2010 at 05:30 AM. |

especially if i have to circle them with a video camera to show the world how it makes less than 300hp but it has RYMS and a phat exhaust can yo, when there is an F'ing supercharged g35 right fricken next to it.

Development is coming along very well. Our tuner was working again today and is hoping to get back on the dyno as soon as tomorrow. We won't be releasing any of those numbers though. We are still waiting on the intercooler that is going into the manifold. This is integral when it comes to performance and tuning. Without the intercooler and all that hot air going into the engine we have to pull a bunch of timing and err on the side of caution so the dyno numbers won't be as good. Once the intercooler comes in we will be able to get more aggressive with the tuning and should be ready to release some numbers soon after.
Steve and our engineers have been reviewing the kit components and we've been sitting down to discuss pricing. We should have an answer shortly on where we lie for pricing. We may even be taking pre-orders pretty soon. |
