Comp turbo failure less than a mile

In for a reply from comp, and BP. Planning on running this kit as well in the next year. I though the grease nipple had fixed most of the issues

3 things with greased bearings. You can under grease them, you can over grease them, and use the wrong grease. All 3 are bad for the bearing.

I just mean they come pre greased, and comp over/under greased they will hopefully step up. And it's like op greased it at all, if and when he does there are instructions for when and how much plus the grease is supplied. Kinda hard to screw up.

Which is why I wasn't comfortable with Comp's "A couple pumps every oil change" 3000, 5000, 7500, 10000 miles? 2, 3 pumps? Big pump, little pump? Who knows. Even then you have to send it in once in awhile. And guess what they might say if it needs lots of repair? Yep, "you didn't grease it correctly". Anyway, let's see what Comp and BP say. Personally I never saw a good or bad review of these revised turbos. I think we're just now getting a glimpse into what the V2 could be like.

Where I retired from. Electric motors, pumps, and things got 2 pumps of grease every month. This equipment is running 24/7, and a lot harder then some turbos. Each had their own grease. If you got caught pumping more or using the wrong grease. You got wrote up.

With turbos or any high heat app. You use the wrong grease. The grease will turn to wax, then dry up quickly.

Just wait. I think you should at least get Comp to check your turbo. Or, send it back and go for the oil fed turbos. I would not install a metal spitting blower in my intake.

Comp Turbo got back to me today through email. Basically they said sorry I am having an issue with a product... that is why they warranty it for 12 months and to send it back to them so they can verify it.

What is everyone's opinion on cases like this..... Lets say I just dropped 14 grand on a new turn key built engine. Then this happens and POOF money down the drain due to a faulty turbo....I understand the turbo warranty but if it is a faulty turbo how do companies get away with selling a defective product and not get held liable for damages from a faulty product...like an engine?

Can't comment on them being liable for any engine damage, but from what they've said above, they seem to not grasp the difference between a warranty and quality control. They aren't the same thing and unfortunately you've become a member of their, possibly non-existent, quality control dept. I hope it works out for you. We're all watching.

Are you going to remove the intercooler to check for metal? Maybe the oil pan as well?

Yea that needs to be sent back to comp and replaced. I seriously doubt a bad install would have caused that

Yeah, Im going to remove both. I think I might try to figure out a way to slightly pressurize the intercooler and run water through it or some type of liquid to try to rid it of any debris lodged in there....I just feel that blowing air through it only could possibly leave stuff behind............Thoughts on this?

Then just flush the motor 3 or 4 times with a very light viscosity oil or the marvel mystery oil stuff just to try to get rid of anything that might be in the engine.

I don't see how either. It idled fine and ran good for a short time maybe a half mile or so before doing this so it seems as if something happened while it was running......which leads me to believe that the bearings changed clearances just enough while getting some heat to them to cause this............or it just wasn't right from the start and it was off just not something you could see with the naked eye.

The Precision turbos perform equally or better than the Comp. The benefit of the Comp is not requiring the oil system. I was never a fan of an oil-less turbo. That's a lot of heat to deal with to not have proper cooling.
