I have always used Chevron fuel injector cleaner,Chevron fuel system cleaner, and Redline SI-1 fuel system cleaner. Having did and helped with engine tear downs and rebuilds after using these fuel additives I can say they help to control carbon build up and help to keep fuel injectors and fuel system clean. I can say that Techron is one of the few top tier premium additives and is a great cleaning additive. I have also seen great results where Seafoam was used a specially on higher mileage vehicles. At the track running strip, track, auto x,auto cross events I have always used 91 or 93 octane gasoline with one bottle of NOS race formula octane booster. NOS race formula octane booster is one of the few octane boosters that is safe to use with oxygen sensors and catalytic converters and helped with spark knock/pinging. I have spoke to Nissan engineers and they highly recommend only using top tier gasoline’s that use a premium additive.

I've been using Sea Foam as a additive in all my vehicles for the past 20 years or so. I put a can in a full tank at every oil change and it seems to work really well for me. Not so much as an octane booster, but to keep things clean. I even use it in the Z when I store it for 6 months during the winter. Took the car out of the garage on Sunday, and she fired up as if I'd been driving it all year...love this stuff.

What is the alternative
My whole point of this was for people with boosted cars who need more octane.High octane pump gas may not be available in their area.I'm hearing negative from people.I'm hearing positive from people that are using additives.I would like to hear from people that have the higher octane maps on car. What are you using?

I went to the Race-Gas site, but didn't see any comparative numbers. I watched a couple of videos, and they added a whole crapload of additive to 93 octane, but no before/after dyno runs. I don't doubt that it does something, and certainly more than you'd get out of a 12-ounce can of something from your local auto parts store.
I can't imagine having to run that stuff all the time just to keep your engine from self-destructing...holy cow! Major pain on the wallet! |

Recommended by Seb, I have used LiquiMoly octane booster. 2 cans per full tank, each can costs about $11 dollars and the car does run a lot smoother due to shitty California 91 being... shitty. I've been wanting to mix a small amount of E85 to see if it would benefit me on my high octane map like lj909 said he does, not sure how it'll be on a stock fuel system.

I have 1 map on car where it was tuned with the Race gas additive at 100 octane. Performed well. Wow do people have some strong feelings on this. |
