Boost gauge not reading boost

So I have a gtm stage 1 sc and I recently installed a prosport boost gauge everything seems to work fine but I'm not seeing any boost readings, I tapped into the bov line on the passenger side. I don't wanna tap into the map sensor line on the driver side since it would be the same thing. Anybody got any suggestions if this will work or other?

You aren't seeing any readings at all on it? As in nothing registering, or only vacuum.

Dante2009 02-25-2017 10:13 PM

Yea I'm only seeing vacuum it goes up to -2 on vacuum but no boost vacuum reads fine

Any vacuum leaks..

Have you driven it and had it under load or are you just going by idle and some revs?

My two guesses:

Since you are never seeing positive pressure, it sounds like your sensing port is reading pressure before the pump. I'd use the MAP port.

Or you have a wiring/config problem. Not uncommon on new installs.

Chase z, yes I drove it around the block got on the highway and like I said sit at around -20 at idle then when I step on and my bov goes off goes up to -2 but no boost.

South ark but my bov line is going to the map port on the left side so moving it to the right side would it make a difference?

Without laying eyes on your setup, I'm just guessing. As a rule-of-thumb, it is best to have sensors as close to what they are measuring as possible. You're wanting to measure manifold pressure, so the manifold itself is probably the best point to measure.

I tapped the manifold to read boost and that line is dedicated to my Greddy Profec which serves as my gauge.

Solidus you tapped to the map sensor on the manifold or straight into the manifold?

solidus 02-27-2017 08:46 AM

Straight into the manifold.

Dante2009 02-27-2017 12:58 PM

Can you send me a pic on where you tapped?

solidus 02-27-2017 01:33 PM

It would be later this evening but it's tapped twice in the front of the manifold. I did two 1/8 npt taps and inserted barbed brass 1/8 npt fittings. One for the boost controller and the other for the BOV. There may be pics on here already from BP kit builds. The kit instructions called for one tap but it's recommended not to use a tee so I did two separate taps.

Ah I know where you tapped in now, I removed those hoses and just blocked them off with rubber caps and hose clamps

solidus 02-27-2017 06:07 PM

No I literally drilled and tapped the manifold. Those hoses are still intact on my setup. I have a BP kit.

Did you end up resolving this? How?
