Would you buy this s/c Z?

Hey guys I'm in the market for a Z and came across a 2012 7a/t 49k miles.
Mods include stillen s/c, transmission cooler, oil cooler, radiator cooler, sway bars, coilovers, AP brake kit, rays forged 19' wheels.
The car is on a stillen tune, all work was done by stillen in Costa Mesa. so I'm guessing it's around 400hp and 300 something torque. I have already had it inspected by Nissan they said the car is in good shape besides a couple belts need replacing but they couldn't tell me anything about the tranny or supercharger.
The car has had the supercharger for 20k miles. my main concern is the transmission but I feel like since it's on a stillen tune it hasn't been producing enough torque to really mess the tranny up. I will not be tracking the car. I would be very cautious in the higher gears With boost and not do any 1st gear pulls.

Now I have the option to buy the car for 20k because it has been repossessed from its owner by the police and put up for sale.

So my question is would you guys buy the car? Or more importantly, do you think the transmission would be fine if I didn't abuse the car and kept up on maintenance?

I wouldn't buy someone else's project. If you really want it, make sure you get a compression test and leakdown test. Stillen kits pop motors. Their tune is garbage.

Plus, when people know their car is going to be repossessed, they usually beat the **** out of it.

Yea thats a really good deal..a steal, almost too good to be true...and how do u know so much about it if its been repo'd ??? I'd proceed with extreme caution

Look at the pulley that is the front side of the jackshaft system. If its silver its the low psi pulley, black will be high psi. This would give an idea if he tried pushing that crappy water kit hard.

Buying a repo'd car is a bad idea. Buying a repo'd "hot rod" is a terrible idea.

I would never buy a modified car unless it was someone that I knew. For 1 you don't know how well the work was performed, and 2, like everyone else said, it was probably beat on. Just my opinion though.

So what are all of you with all your modified Zed's on this forum going to eventually do with your cars? :wtf2:

Some keep them until they fall apart. Some take a big hit when they go to sell (most realize they will get a very poor ROI on mods but aren't doing it for the money). Some crash them.

TopgunZ 02-14-2017 08:54 PM

Take it all off, sell it, sell car as stock.

:iagree:

I do the same. My last z I took off the turbo kit, and all the other mods, sold them separate from the car. That way you don't lose much money. If you sell the car fully modded, your losing A TON of money. Hell, I got almost all my money back on the turbo kit when I sold it...

Keep it until it's not worth a damn modded or stock. :rofl2:

Never ask for opinions on this site, do what you like and what common sense tells you. Modded cars are not bad because most of us treat our cars better than we do our wives and once we dump that kinda coin into it, we're not trying to tear it up. If i sold my car right now, I'd be hard pressed that you'd find another to match it, but the consensus on here would be that I probably beat the shiit out of it and don't buy anyone elses project, LOL.

If he were buying it from the owner, you might well be right. Buying it as a repo would scare the **** out of me.

Thanks topgunz for the advice on inspecting the supercharger. I understand why some of you are against it but I almost feel like even if I had to spend 4K or whatever on the tranny I'd still have a good deal. Unless both engine and tranny blow 20k is a steal. However it's a one owner car and like I said it's on stillen tune so not producing crazy power. the car was repoed because the guy was a drug dealer and got caught by police I heard this from the shop that last serviced the car(shown on car fax) .
Buuut I'm still on the fence there's a lot of other Z's that caught my eye so I'm not rushing into anything.

Civil forfeiture = unconstitutional theft. It's an excuse to pad the police budget and walk all over people's rights....:stirthepot:

solidus 02-18-2017 03:50 PM

It does pad the budget, but in "Most" cases locally anyway it's part of the "Game". If you're the "Weight Man" that deals in kilo's and not "Cookies","Eight Balls" and "rocks". You're at a higher level on the distribution chain. You do this with full knowledge that your Donk car, the Range and your Bentley GT may be forfeit and you're looking at 15+ Fed time. When your gf LaQuita is the registered owner of your Bentley but everybody and their brother knows it's yours and you use it to drop off bricks at a trap house....Yeah it's a foregone conclusion that your forfeiture is the least of your problems. Couple months ago , seized 187k cash from a 17yr old. Stated employment "Kitchen worker at Little Ceasars Pizza" . Said he saved the money from working for less than two years. Two choices: We call the IRS and you explain why you did'nt report 187k or..................Forfeiture. Personally I'm more afraid of the IRS than the Justice system but that's just me liking my stuff at my house and having non frozen accounts.
