Gtm supercharger issue
So I just bought my gtm stage 1 supercharger and I was reading from the rotrex instructions that the supercharger should be the highest component mounted but from gtm the supercharger goes under the alternator and the oil reservoir sits way higher than that on the driver side. Has anyone seen any problems or issues with this?
Appreciate the help guys |
Have my gtm stage 2 for almost 2 years no issue with it

It is not a problem, ran my kit for many years and over 60,000 miles with no problems.

The new designed Rotrex superchargers recommend that the reservoir be lower than the seal as its possible the seal can weep and leak out the fluid over time. Seals weep as they wear out and its your responsibility to check the reservoir level. I think that the reservoir cooler was repositioned to keep it below the supercharger seal level too.
I'm quoting from memory without checking facts; so my information may be inaccurate. |

Hmm not sure I get the joke .....the gtm stage one and stage two both have same location of supercharger and reservoir...so it does answer his question. Didn't think I was implying him to go a stage 2 by comparing the two ...... |
20k miles on my stage 1.
Just keep your eye out for leaks and on the reservoir level. |
Stage 2
3000 miles No problems so far |
Someone with more technical knowledge can correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm pretty sure the supercharger location requirement is only for *new* rotrex superchargers. Old (ie from GTM days) Rotrex superchargers used a different seal that did not have this requirement. This seal is no longer available and the replacement part Rotrex is using has this requirement.
I imagine if you purchase a new Rotrex supercharger for an old GTM kit you will have this issue. |
