Driving the compressor via a belt will be more efficient than driving a generator/alternator to produce electricity to drive a motor to drive the compressor. No conversion of energy is perfect - usually far from it.

But, yeah, it takes about 167A at 12V to produce 2kW.
P = I * E = 166.6A * 12V = 2kW

Even without the parasitic loss from this...its still a gimmicky system. People probably have bought it and tell their buddies how awesome it is without collecting any data.

Honestly, this reminds me of the electric supercharger you put in your intake for $29.99 off of ebay except it costs $700..so it HAS to be good!

Again, i can see it maybe making sense on the drag strip...maybe. Where you sit in line, blast AC all over your aftercooler coolant, drop it below ambiant, turn your AC off and make a pull. Then its all over before the system heat soaks again. But in real world, street, track, this reeks of cheeze. Even on the strip you would be far better off dumping ice in the tank as stated before.

Basically, in order for this to be effective, the AC on a constant basis would have to out perform the under hood temps created from the engine plus the heat created from the supercharger, which are like 200+ degrees to begin.

Top is correct. After logging many runs during my tune, I could see just how rapid the intake air temps would drop as soon as the boost was gone which means I still get the same amount of air density that I did on the first pull. A2A is simple and effective.

Thanks again TopgunZ for developing the A2A kit.

Well after some thought to your statement and question, let me somewhat answer the point, not that you'll accept it anyways.

First off I've been racing and tinkering/experimenting with cars since 1980 (I know I'm old) and one the first to have a VQ in 2003. Had to learn about the platform with research and was one of the early adopters for some of the things you enjoy from the vendors today.

I use to post all sorts of information (deleted most of it) but it only got me more questions via PM. Sometimes up to 20 a day. I found it was members to cheap to pay a guru for the info and used the info to beat a vendor for a cheaper cost on a project. But still, I worked with the vendors and helped bring new products to market.

I figure if their too cheap to buy a membership to this forum, they have no right to my intellectual property and deserve to be singled out and chastised for it. Besides, I'm not selling anything, besides used parts; therefore I have no obligation to any answer questions except to the for parts. Plus, everything I do, innovate, or invent is on my dime and therefore my property. I have no sponsors that I have to promote. I may commission the occasional vendor to build something for me and share it with them but not non-paying members of this forum.

I help the local members, quite a bit and I'm out of racing/building/advising gurus, on cars/trucks for the most part. I have no ego that requires me to post and I'm enjoying my retirement

This matter is closed and for those cheap non-members looking for free info
FU ... buy a membership and read lots.

Read lots and lots........the info is out there and probably been done before.

The heat tables on the cooling required to cool the intake air volume/velocity is too large for the air conditioning unit in the vehicle. This was attempted on the Hemi's in 09 and failed miserably. It's too small to make a difference to IAT's , except at idle. Best bang for the buck is spraying the intercooler with water, during a run. But, eventually, the intercooler will be coated with calcium and loose efficiency and your no further ahead.

The biggest A2A intercooler possible, with Meth injection, is one long term solution, that makes sense and may last.

What does this system do when the AC shuts off when you go full throttle? All modern cars do that, so if this is run off the clutched AC compressor, then it ONLY works when the car is NOT at full throttle. Additionally, when it's only on when the AC compressor is engaged, then the drop in temp is probably only going to make up for the extra drag on the motor for turning the AC compressor.
