Ive heard of a few people having hot start issues with various FI kits. Seems like the conclusions were tuning issues. Anyone else with this kit have this problem?

GTM's kit has the filters behind the bumper in front of the tire. It costs you the washer fluid reservoir but it'll work. Not sure you'd be able to snake a 4" thru there but definitely worth a try.

4" would be sorcery... Even 3" I think would be iffy. Might end up downsizing so much it becomes too much of a restriction... Is back into the engine compartment the only logical direction to go with the position and orientation of the turbo?

Where the filter sits now might not be sorcery but it's damned close. I'm sure Sasha considered an alternate location but the difficulty precluded making it a production option, but did'nt the V1 version of the kit run intercooler piping through the passenger side? Hell I've daydreamed about oblong tubes connected to flat filters in the wheel well and even internally reinforced silicone tubes to snake through.

The V1 kit had the charge piping routed on the passenger side and it was a ************ to install. That piping was only 2.5" and it barely cleared. A single 2.5" pipe is not going to be enough air to feed the turbo.

I am thinking about maybe an aluminum box to go around the turbski filter that shields upper manifold heated air and ground / dirty water air from getting into it. I guess it would be pulling sideways from where the stock fuel lines come up into the bay.

On a side note I have one other point to discuss. Does anyone else have issues with the driver side charge pipe hitting the little nub on the wishbone and also the nub on the steering rack pinion? I have rub marks like a B.

Apparently they're have been 2 comp turbo failures with less than 10 miles on each. Don't know if I want this kit anymore....

Why are you bashing the kit? You know you can order the oil fed turbo with his kit right?

I'm not bashing the kit I'm bashing the comp turbo. After seeing 2 turbos fail in the first oil less batch would you put the comp turbo on your car? I already have the kit so I'm going to have to figure out a way to get a oil fed turbo.

Personally, I would just install it. Don't let 2 problems stop you at this point. Mine is one that failed, and leaked coolant into the exhaust (see my post in comp turbo failure thread). After I got it replaced, everything is good now. These turbos are fairly new, a few problems here and there are going to happen. If you are that worried, get the oil fed turbo, but I would just install the one you have personally.

Well that eases my nerves alittle. Thanks for chiming in.

The pipe should have had a round "dent " in that spot for the nub for clearance ....I added a rubber cover over the area as well to protect it from rubbing
