Got the cooler in.. wrapped some heat wrap on the lines just to provide a little abrasion resistance.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/X6...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/xx...=w1369-h770-no And the intercoolers are back in. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/QE...=w1369-h770-no And thus begin the most trying part of this install. The intercooler piping. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/3x...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/P8...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/1M...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/SB...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/5c...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/n7...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/jD...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/m2...G=w434-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ez...s=w434-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/cD...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/b2...b=w434-h770-no Everything fits like a puzzle... we marked the pipes to know how far they needed to go into the couplers to get the full width of the clamp. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/fG...q=w434-h770-no These snorkels have to be cut to accomodate the intercooler couplers. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Gb...=w1369-h770-no MOAR PIPING! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/5_...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/NC...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/k-...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Nj...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/r6...=w1369-h770-no You need a lot of different extensions and tools to reach everything.. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/2S...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/RV...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Ts...=w1369-h770-no This is the biggest issue right here. These pipes look similar, but they arent. They were packaged together with no marking that they were different. It took us 2 days before we finally figured out they were different... Either one will fit on the passenger side in either orientation, but the right one in the right orientation is needed on the drivers side.... There are enough other variables in the fit here that if you don't know how its supposed to go, you might kill your partner in anger. You can see from the scratches how many times they were put in and out. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-G...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/t4...e=w434-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/6I...P=w434-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Ld...=w1369-h770-no This is how much clearandce there is between the AC line, Manifold/Heatshield, and wastegate actuator. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ar...=w1369-h770-no So much left to do.... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/4Z...=w1369-h770-no Need to relocate the horn to make room for the intercoolers... I just bent up the OEM bracket and moved it to the top. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Kz..._=w578-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ps...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Gf...=w1027-h770-no Another end of day shot.... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/1R...=w1027-h770-no Routing the PS lines... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/05...=w1369-h770-no Routed the starter cable... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/vB...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/3_...=w1369-h770-no TWO horns relocated. Why do we have two? BOV's installed! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/qA...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/7v...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/fy...=w1369-h770-no Final piping! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/xS...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/g4...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/M8...=w1369-h770-no After all the moving around of the intercooler piping, we were worried they might not be clean... So what do you do? Hook your shop vac up to the filter inlet. This has the added benefit that the turbos spool a little and you get to geek out listening to them. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/jf...6=w434-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/8E...=w1369-h770-no |
Got the filters in...
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ag...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/K2...=w1369-h770-no To-Do list keeps growing and shrinking.. Should have kept and framed all the pages for my garage. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/lW...V=w578-h770-no It was such a relieve to finish all the cold side piping. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/eR...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/RW...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/vi...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/0G...=w1369-h770-no Oil pan comes off! Thanks! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Vo...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/up...=w1027-h770-no On goes the glorious GTM oil pan. Two turbos, no oil cooler, and my oil temps stay well in check during the florida summer. This is a great part. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/wf...=w1027-h770-no Meanwhile, I was fixing up the fuel pump... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/OI...Y=w578-h770-no Then guess who stops by? Johnny from JTRAN to flash a base tune. JTRAN went above and beyond for me and I couldn't recommend them enough! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/B-...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/EP...Q=w578-h770-no But unfortunately there was a problem with the base tune... Since the pump and pan werent in when he was here, he wasnt able to start the car to test it. So, I ended up having to tow it to the shop for tuning... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ix...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/UT...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/nI...=w1027-h770-no And Johnny trying to troubleshoot the basetune. It was the MAF tube size. I put the fire extinguisher there... you can tell I am confident in mechanics skills. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/dl...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/GF...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/7Y...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Ic...=w1369-h770-no It starts! And there's a coolant leak. I just want to point out that this leak was Mike's fault. Johnny himself got in there and tightened it up. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/N3...=w1369-h770-no BRING ON THE DYNO! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/M1...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/56...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/x8...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/eD...=w1027-h770-no ER MA GERD 500WHP https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/vE...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/wP...=w1027-h770-no Topped out at 538whp http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1451792352 Tuned it back to 520whp http://www.the370z.com/attachment.ph...1&d=1451792352 Some finished pics.... We went crazy with the heatwrap. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/ts...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/cM...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/pG...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Ae...q=w434-h770-no My hands took a beating over the 17 days we spent working on this... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/X9...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/bo...=w1369-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/9i...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/u9...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/sV...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/qp...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Rh...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/2-...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Ld...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/tU...=w1027-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/LT...a=w578-h770-no https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/Co...=w1027-h770-no And now for the 1000 mile journey home, fire extinguisher running shotgun! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-Z...=w1027-h770-no |
My favorite moment (so it gets posted first)... as captured in the other thread:

Awesome thread Jayhova. It's gonna be cooler soon and it'll be time for a hookup. I may be driving over there around the end of next month or early November. I'll text you a link to look at in a minute. Go to the 1:58 mark because it happens quick.
