Tuning help
image.jpeg
My question is how long should have car be in the shop for with this work getting done to it? Also is it a decent price point? My car is already at the shop and has been there two months now. He hasn't started tuning it yet but I was just wondering if this is normal. Thanks. |

I'm not a mechanicbut those prices look rediculous. A tune should take a week max, where are you having it tuned?

I didn't want to put the name of the business out there. I just wanted to see if I was getting the short end of the stick. The prices to me also seemed high. Thanks for your input. Anyone else feel the same way or have anything else to add?

Those prices are stupid specially the price for changing spark plugs and like James said tuning should take days, a week max. If it was me i would just go get the car back and go to another shop.

Straight robbery! I'd be super pissed.
I've tuned my cars over a dozen times and it's always just taken about 3 hours and under $500.

Op, you're in CA please post who the shop is so the rest of us can avoid having to go thru your situation. I understand they have your car so feel free to Pm me if you don't feel comfortable airing it to out.

It's Z Car Garage in San Jose, CA. I felt like it was a lot of money and a long time. It's my daily and trust me, I'm tired of it being at the shop. The only problem is I want the car done right and I can really afford to bring the car somewhere else to wait a long time. I'm down here in SoCal and after I get Topz A2A I plan to use Seb @ Speciality Z. So you guys think I should just pull the car out after having it there for months?

Another reason he said it was going to cost more is the fact he has to tune it from scratch he said. He couldn't pull the old tune. I'm really grateful though you all are giving me advice. I would love it to take a week and be cheaper then $3.3k.. He wanted to do the A2A but after talking to my wife he figured we would have the car in the shop for another 3 months...

I posted the name of the shop not to bash on them but if others believe that's no a good deal that's on them. Hopefully if Rob does see this I don't mean any disrespect I just don't want to be taken advantage of. I appreciate all the feedback and hopefully I can get Baby Jesus to save me! Lol

Wow, man. If they haven't started the tune work after two months I would cancel the work order and take the car to Specialty Z asap. This place sounds sketchy based on what you're telling us so far. I wouldn't feel comfortable with their services especially the tuning aspect. Seb will probably have to check out their work to make sure things were done properly before he tunes it.
