But you're def not blowing any top mounts out of the water bud.

Well atleast the ones who haven't blown ourselves up. JK when are we racing, kidding. Maybe not
Clearly it went over your guys head. He said in terms of spool/responsiveness and being easily upgradable down the road. If you are only making those numbers on a built motor then you must have an extremely conservative tune because I'm making a lot more tq then you are on a stock block with less boost...

I second that, I had my car re-tune at z fever by Martin who is assoicated with them and that shop is a Fing mess, chickens running around, kids who i think were workers smoking cigs all over the place, Just a very unprofessional place. I would never trust them to do any work on my Z

I understand pushing the sales pitch but Blown Out of the Water, come on sasha... lol Did they legalize pot in Canada??? lol
Of course these kits have pushed past the 700ft/tq...this is the less efficient mid mount kit (934whp and 788ft/tq):

Unfortunately this customer ran out of fuel (E85) at about 27psi of boost. The turbo still have a lot left in it.

A more recent dyno on the VHR, showing how the kit spools (4th gear), and what the potential is. This is the base turbo, there are two more larger turbos available that are direct bolt on.

Keep in mind that this kit offers a large range of turbos and turbine housings, this is why I said it has tremendous advantages (IMO) over the top mount, which is only available in a small V-band turbine housing, which ultimately is a huge limiting factor.

Oh and btw I have room to upgrade to a bigger housing but I don't feel the need for another 50-90 hp.. The fact is a Twin setup will Always be king due to simple math. Keep an eye out very soon for BBR's twin turbo kit...

There are so many factors in the turbo game when you start cranking up the boost. Granted our cars are Very efficient at making boost but when you start going over the normal 550-650whp range thats when you run into the real efficiency due to several bottle necks of our cars. I can honestly say it has really been a learning experience to me on piping diameter and air intake sizes, fuel, timing, etc etc to really make big power on our cars. I for one scrapped the top mount design and actually told those guys what size piping to use and actually tried different things rather than just strapping on the top mount kit...

Yes. my tune is really conservative at the moment due to my injectors being crap (some off brand) and too small (750cc) and nearly maxed out , upgrading to id1000s within the next few weeks and getting retuned on ecutek

also keep in mind my motor compression is 9:1. Takes a tiny bit more psi to get power

That all really depends on what you are looking for in your build. As long as turbo selection is correct TT and ST will have about the same power up top. Down low the ST will always make more torque. So in a situation where traction is an issue the TT is a better option because the power comes on a little more gradually. A ST has a much more dramatic torque curve.

Guess I have to add the caveat of placement of the ST plays a huge roll. You need to minimize the amount of hot side piping feeding the turbine. My boost threshold is below 2,500 rpms and lag is couple hundred rpms. I venture to bet that's in the ballpark for the best TT kits for our platform.

I'm still on stock block power levels so the differences might show a lot more when you really start taxing a built motor.

Overall I do agree with you mainly because TT is the best way to package a kit for appearance and efficiency.

I think it's rather comical when I skim through most of the turbo posts and see that people claim to know what kit is best especially when they are on their 2nd or 3rd motor and they have already changed kits from something previous. All kits have their advantages and disadvantages except for Bobby and his VSR kit. There are no advantages to that kit lmao

Trial and error and Lots of money but your right I have had a twin setup and a single now. I can honestly say both have their ups and downs to each their own, right?? My car is paid for and it leaves me with a great hobby and platform to boot in my spare time.. The top turbo kit (in my opinion may not be the best but when you say best what exactly are you referring too?). Ever felt 700wtq coming on hard?? lol
In the end we all drive the same car and love doing what we do with it so who gives a @#$%^!!!! lol

My Z was paid cash when I bought her too. But I would kick myself in the *** if I threw the same amount of money as the rest of these guys just to see what works and what doesn't. That's where a little research comes into play. I have a boosted Z that I haven't touched in months. I start it up once in a while but that's it. I find my bike a little bit more fun and faster then just about every single Z on here but that's just me and what I like. I have learned on my quest for speed that nothing will out accelerate a bike for the money and reliablity.

Right on man, love bikes. Actually I used to race yamaha's (R1's and R6's) about 7 years ago mainly on the southern tracks like Barber's and Road ATL, Jenning's JP. Got out of that but still wanted something for speed and really cool so I bought a 350z and built anf tt'ed that. Do you remember that old APS TT kit? Also what kind of bike do you have?

Btw I actually loved my gtm tt kit before the exhaust manifold cracked... lol

Indeed smart, I lost a very friend while riding years ago and swore to never ride on the street again. At least a track is a controlled environment .
