From an idea to reality. Top mount twin turbo set up. Enjoy.

Madcow 03-06-2016 01:49 AM

Wow those are some big turbos, what are they? Also what is the advantage of mounting them at that location?

37winner 03-06-2016 01:58 AM

Yeah turbos are a decent size. Two 62mm turbos. The advantage, no clue. It was one of those no one was doing it so I figure why not. Plus it looks cool lol

YzGyz 03-06-2016 06:48 AM

Just wow!! That's what those v8 guys run... we owe! ! You sure are different.

Wonka2581 03-06-2016 06:52 AM

Ahh hmm... Specs, numbers, kit you used, link to where one can purchase? :tiphat:

Masterbeatty 03-06-2016 10:34 AM

Nice, when do you plan on having it running?

37winner 03-06-2016 02:45 PM

The car is running. Break in phase now.
This was all custom built. No kit.

jwick 03-06-2016 03:13 PM

Looks like the charge pipe goes directly to the manifold. Are you not cooling the compressed air?

37winner 03-06-2016 04:03 PM

No its cooled

SwissCheese 03-06-2016 07:41 PM

Surely you have more pictures!

Advantages? Performance wise there are zero, its actually a much worse setup for heat soak. So clearly as you stated, you're build looks to be going for "looks" vs functionality. While looking cool, it surely won't be running "cool", haha.

GL w/ the build!

6mt370 03-07-2016 02:30 AM

I can only imagine how harsh those charge pipe bends are :/

Bigger turbos.

I never stated I was going for looks. I said it looks cool.

We thought about how hot it will get for the past four years.

The cars running. If it doesn't rain out I'll be bringing few cars down to TX2k. Hope to see everyone there.

Especially the apparent 1000whp guy here on the forums.

Not harsh at all. Beats the living **** out of all of GTM's ********.

I do but lazy to post right now. I'll do it when I get to it. But you can ponder about it. =)

Jayhovah 03-07-2016 09:14 AM

I'll bet the installation is a good bit easier with no need to drop the motor for something like this. Plenty of room to work around the turbos in that position with the stock airboxes out.... Much easier to service too. I get that the manifold/turbo design on kits like FI, AAM, and my Gamma kit are great for performance.. but knowing that I will have to disassemble the entire kit installation to service darn near anything turbo related kind of turns me off. =) Then again, my frame of mind is such that I would have definitely done a BP kit in the absence of the GTM Group buy pricing (which was honored by Gamma in my case).

Looks cool too. Would be pretty sweet if someone came up with a more streetable (smaller) twin kit like this!

37winner 03-07-2016 08:49 PM

Setting up the manifold required to take out the motor multiple times. It was really tweak and peaking the mock up, but afterwards it was smooth sailing.

I previously had the GTM kit, and it was decent. I didn't like it because it was only low to mid end power. People with top end were killing me.

So I wanted something to at least compete with people with top end power. It's one of the reasons why I went with this design that so many people said it would be impossible to do so.

But on a positive note. I can upgrade to bigger turbos that would work well with the motor with ease at least. =)

I'm thinking about getting the new gen 6466 turbos. Well, if the 62's don't play out and all that.

I'll post up a dyno sheet showing the results of what's going on.

Rusty 03-07-2016 09:42 PM

Sounds like you have a plan in place.

37winner 03-07-2016 11:11 PM

I try my best.

Boosted Performance 03-07-2016 11:48 PM

How did you run your down pipes? that is the biggest challenge with with the top mount twin kit. On the VHR the passenger side is not bad, but the driver side is a PITA, the reverse is true on the VQ35DE cars.

I suppose there is a way to work around it with some creative header design. Still very tight though.

Two 62mm turbos would be good to 1200whp all day long, provided the turbine housings chosen are large enough.

Elmo370z 03-08-2016 01:28 AM

You boosted folks have all the fun, damn you all lol

6mt370 03-08-2016 10:15 PM

What are the specs on the 1000hp+ built motor that you have?

This bottle of excuses.

I'll do a write up later. I don't even know where to begin. Unless you want to write it for me.

6mt370 03-10-2016 03:12 AM

Built motor specs?

37winner 03-10-2016 06:21 AM

It's built with high end brand name stuff.

so if you have no intentions on answering peoples questions about this build why did you even make the thread to begin with?

37winner 03-10-2016 09:06 AM

I did though. For entertainment purposes.

37winner 03-10-2016 09:07 AM

haha I'm only ******* with ya.

I'll do a write up later when I get to it.

I did a write up while taking a ****, and my phone crapped out. Enjoy the video I'll do the write up again later.

PongSanity 03-10-2016 06:17 PM

"Do the backfire thing. Cmon when I go back there, do the back fire thing." LOL. sounds incredible. Big plus for it to be done on a G37 lol. That was a biased statement haha

I posted up pictures of the down pipe awhile ago, but then all the keyboard warriors came out and gave their unprofessional opinions.

When called out, they seemed to have those key board warrior fingers stop finger ******* their keys.

I'll email it to you if you want to see them. Just shoot me a message.

6mt370 03-10-2016 07:20 PM

Ahhhh I just wanted to know the specs so I could have something similar that might be able to keep up with my liter bike

37winner 03-10-2016 07:37 PM

Your liter bike is faster.

It took a good amount of time, but it's here. It's like when someone told me you can't make over 40k in one month, and did it in Feb 2015. All that hate, flew out the door with, "You know I was joking balhblhalbh"

I don't know where in the East Coast you are, but when I'm back in NJ/NY again, I'll buy you a beer with pizza. **** it many beers with pizza.

Hell just paint the city red with alcohol. Now I'm excited for Pizza and beer.

Or simply just ****** up from slaying bodies, pussy, and alcohol for this country.

For them better days. hit me up with a dm. If you got FB hit me up yo.

6mt370 03-10-2016 08:40 PM

Lol I'm just poking fun man. I am honestly curious to see what the built motor specs are though. Gotta have something beefy to support those big snails! E85, race gas...? Listened to the video and sounds like it has a cam in it ;)
