FI 370z vs C6 or C7 corvette
Anyone (370z FI) been on a track or strip with these corvettes? I have a friend that has a C6 with full exhaust, intake, cam, pulls very hard. The strip is opening back up here soon. 1/8 mile so after I change the clutch, it should be fun.
His wife has a 2016 C7... also fast.... |
1/8 mile would be hard to keep up with them. The IRS on the Vettes will allow them to get a much better 60' time witch is probably the most important part in 1/8 mile.
Of course tires, driver, and all those other factors come into play. Are the Vettes Auto? and is your z auto? |

Its really hard to compare these 2.
has nothing to do with the IRS, our cars have irs aswell, along with almost every vehicle made now. besides, corollas, base model VW's, Sentra. I actually change my IRS on my 2003 cobra to a sold axle, this helped with traction and reducing the dipping under load on the 1/8 mile. But I bet your stock C7 will eat up your TT 370z. The c7 launch control and if its the auto, buh bye. Our 370z's don't get good traction, 1-2 shift licks balls. From a roll, you would take the vette, but not from a stand still. |

Its a difficult debate to stay in very long without both cars side by side for measurements and testing... but you can expect that the Corvette IRS had typical Corvette power in mind during its engineering, and that the 370z had typical 370z power in mind. I would be surprised if the Corvette doesnt have a more longitudinally rigid IRS, along with quite a bit less camber gain on compression. |

Atleast on my cobra it was.. |

At the strip, a 370 boosted or not will probably loose to a track moded c6 or c7 at the strip. I have raced some and lost every time. They just lay is down and go while I spin and watch there smoke and listen to the glorious V8 roar! I was boosted, stock camber, so4 street tires, urethane motor mounts, urethane diff bushing. On the road however, it's a different story. A boost Z will hold it's own to lots of cars. I have tested it too.
I have recently installed a few things (urethane trans mount, SPL camber arm and set to .5* neg since I still drive her on the street, two bolts and will be getting NT05r) and will hit the track again in a few weeks. If I even run against a c6 or c7 I'll come and revive this thread. YzGyz |
sorry, I should of specified more, I was just comparing our IRS vs the IRS on the vettes. The C7 has really long almost equal length control arms. As the 370z has very short un even control arms, resulting in dramatic compression camber (during launches). This results in very poor traction. I am going to be looking in depth if there is a way to help the camber and toe stay more stationary for my high powered 350z. Ive been dealing with the lack of traction for years but im getting more and more dedicated to a quarter mile car, So my ambition to correct it is getting higher.

Copy all, I do not race on the street, but I have had to pull off the road to get people to get off my ***. I have had some blow by and slow way down and I go around... next I'm getting passes again..
It gets stupid quick. I pull off for gas or something... sometimes the offender will pull off to talk... I will use the car to quickly move from point to point after that the offender will leave me alone!!! sometimes... I should trade my car for a Prius.. No one wants to race a Prius... |
