Their belt design has a shallower rib so it doesn't bottom out on the valley of the pulley [substantially minimizing/eliminating belt slip at that point] but rides on the side walls of the V for more efficient belt/pulley contact surface

By the way ... real nice install :-)

http://www.gatesracing.com/

I think they are available in a number of lengths and # of ribs, but you'll have to contact them via their on-line 'Contact Us' form to find out for you application.

You can always [carefully] trim down to the max # ribs your pulley is designed for with a sharp box cutter.
You've gone this far - that extra rib just might do you righteous.

This is the Gates belt chart for the dimensions we need. They don't have the length that is required. I appreciate the help though. I'm still looking.

The highlighted one is the stock supercharger serpentine belt size.

I'd still contact them with your specs and see what they can do for you...
Ask them about the Racing Belts - they might be different from the stock sizes.
Can't hurt but sure might help ...
Have FUN with your 'NEW' Car :-)

I just loaded my first tune from Seb. Holy crap, what a difference!!!!!!! Runs and drives smooth as stock now. As soon as I wipe this silly grin off my face I'll start getting some logs done for him. Wow! I just can't get over the difference! Throttle response is OMG. I will have to relearn how to drive my Z.

PaulyZ, did that new pulley increase the "whine"? I just watched your youtube video and it sounded like it.

As I am patiently waiting for my air to air kit to ship out my slave cylinder decided to go out yesterday... most excellent ted. So I bought the z1 elimination kit, although I am not too confident on pulling the tranny out so I get to wait a few more weeks before the mechanic can get to it... then it's air time!

The pulley didn't increase the whine, just traction. You can hear more whine due to the filter that is directly on the blower.

I agree! It totally wakes up the supercharger sound!

I also would like to point out that even though you have a 6 rib belt vs. 7 you are still getting like 85% more grip.

6 ribs vs 7 = 15% less.... 2" of wrap vs now 4" = 100% more. 85/100 = 85% more grip!!

Do you plan on doing any tests to see how much psi you gain from it? Did you have a solid baseline before the install? It wouldnt be too hard to throw the old belt on and just bypass this if you didnt.

Did a before and after run and gained 1 psi at around 6500 rpms. May have gained more but ran out of room on the road. I need to get on that dyno. I need to get ahold of Seb and arrange a time to do it. Been real busy with getting ready to move and work.

NICE!!! A full psi is 100% worth it.. and more. I figured it would be a definite gain as after the 20 dyno pulls, and a half can of some pretty amazing belt grip I figured that was about what you would gain from getting more grip on that belt. If i had time to do this i would have, glad i could help encourage the project. Great job!

And if anyone is thinking "what about cog belts on the supercharger side". DO NOT TRY THIS. I went through 2 belts and 2 weeks of headaches. It will never be reliable enough to run. The setup back there just wont allow the clearances you need. The extra pulley is where we really need to put the grip down anyway. However, i will say the sound that came out of the cog setup was very intoxicating to say the least. Reminded me of my old positive displacement eaton blower on my 350Z. Wish i could have gotten it to work.

I'm scheduled for a dyno run August 6th at Z1. The car is running great and Seb should be giving me the go ahead for some WOT runs soon. New wheels and tires are on. Pictures will be posted on my build thread. BOOST, FINALLY!

Yeah after installing the blower I always thought it was crazy how there was low grip on the serpentine side. This is the way it should have been.

Is this part of the a2a kit or did you eliminate the piping and install intake on the blower yourself?

The larger intake is part of the A2A kit. It replaces the y-pipe dual intake design that the stillen kit comes with.
