Can someone tell me if ish* is possible?
z1 just posted this to the 370z page...
http://i.imgur.com/rmubDdc.jpg Congrats to the owner seriously if these numbers are right. Either way another member to the boosted club is seriously awesome. But how in the world does someone on 93 octane at 9.5 psi hit 605 rwhp on a stock block? EVERYTHING I have seen has been at 500 whp max at that boost level. Plus the torque seems crazy crazy low at that power level. They of course didn't provide the dyno chart and I've heard of z1 being called out on shenanigans in the past. Any input? ALSO, not here to create a circle jerk. Any company that makes/installs a twin turbo system is GREAT by me. But back up them numbers you claim son!:tiphat: |
i noticed guys with aam tt kits are making the most power out of all the kits being made for the Z. My car is at maryland and i should be getting her back next week, I will post how much power I will make with the aam kit (I have a build block tho).
|
I currently have the aam kit installed on my car. Installed and tuned by aam. I made 540whp and 424tq on 9lbs. Ive seen a few come out from z1 that were making a bit more. All the ones ive seen come from aam seem to be right around my power level. Ive done a few pulls with a twin turbo gto and porche 911 turbo and i was right there with both so im gonna believe my numbers are pretty accurate.
|
And i would believe that 2.5 inch exhaust would be restricting him as my ark was holding me back on 80whp. I picked up 80 whp by going to a full 3 inch system.

Thats sounds about right. Those EFR turbos flow alot better than the garrett's. Most of the Fast intention stuff I've seen have been RS based turbos not even GTX. Might help a little but i would have to dig up some flow charts.
Phunk was in the same ball park with PSI/ horsepower but on E85. With old out dated turbo's. I would be willing to bet this was just for numbers and they turned it down. I wouldn't trust running that much power on 93 but it is possible. Longevity will be effected, but no one really has ran one long enough too know. |
ya I dunno about that 2.5" exhaust and 9.5 psi AND on uprev. I would love to see some charts and maybe the guy made a mistake? 3" exhaust and 10.5 psi sounds more right
|
Even the folks with FI kits and the GTX turbos are not getting that much out of them...more than likely its a 5th gear pull...or glory run lol!!! Congrats to the owner anyway as he is gonna love all that power!

Guys you can make a lot of HP on these motors in stock form... You have to realize that it isnt HP that kills parts its torque. A reliable tune will keep the torque under 500ftlbs so that you dont break any components.
FI kits has made high 6xxrwhp on stock blocks. This is usually achieved with the upgraded turbo option. |
He started the thread because of the boost level and 93oct vs hp. Not total HP. plenty of members have hit mid to high 600.
A dual 2.5" exhaust should flow way more than 600hp. I dont think it would come into factor until 1xxx numbers. Maybe im confused and you guys are talking about a single 2.5"?!? |
I know Jon personally and he doesn't fudge numbers. They do dyno runs in 5th gear since that is the 1:1 ratio on our transmissions. A dual 2.5" exhaust has nothing to do with their numbers and wont make an impact to higher boost levels.
Were additives used in the fuel? maybe... and by additives I mean products like Boostane which don't get you much extra hp but rather help reduce knock and help keep your cylinder temps down. Jon is a great tuner and I have seen a few of the AAM kits out of their shop and most of them are in the High 560+ and now with a 600whp at the same boost levels as the others make me think of "Semtex" car which I called a Wednesday build from the factory... His car on every dyno out paced same year with same mods by 15 to 20+ whp on an NA motor!!! The owner of this car has what I call a Wednesday car! |

dyno sheet of another similar build ^^ . I don't believe that z1's dyno reads high. My old car ( 350z) made less power on it than other dynos. |

Ive even seen one come out of z1 with a tomei single making over 600whp at same boost level as me.

I think some of you are missing a very important point that both bullitt and I made. The number makes since because it was done in 5th gear. Many numbers that a posted are 4th gear runs and I would suspect the number for the car in question would be pretty close to 565 or so in 4th gear at the same boost level.

Agreed. So why don't more people run in 5th gear? Shoot, I'll take the higher number if that's what it gives me! LOL
Also, if this were the case (just basing off my personal thoughts not anything scientific or pretend that I really know what the hell I'm talking about) with this same set up at 605whp at 9.5psi, why is there no one with e85, running 13lbs and thus hitting well over 700 already? The torque should still be in line with the upper 500s if it's this low at 9.5 lbs right? |
