STS Systems

another thing you can do is use resonated test pipes which do have the resonator on the outside.

I've never heard of outside resonators?

Are you talking about like what Motordyne offers, their ART pipes?

yeah sorry resonators are always exposed to exhaust gasses they don't go over the existing pipe if this is what you believe suck it up your wrong harsh i know, and filled resonators always break down the "mufflers" on most z aftermarket exhausts are all fiber filled and even on an n/a they get louder after the first week thanks to breakdown.

A lot of the performance straight through's are filled too you have to be careful when buying if you don't want a filled one. they resonators that are y'd into the exhaust are more like true resonators by definition as they are mainly hollow and due to resonant frequencies at like a spring when tuned correctly to produce inverted amplitude sound waves that travel back up the y and cancel some of the sound waves in the main exhaust pipe out. the fiber filling in some resonators acts like a damper and absorbs the sound furthering the frequency range the resonator is capable of affecting.
