Think of it as being like a cherry bomb muffler or glass-pack. The resonators you want don't have a filler but they don't effect the sound as much either.

The air isn't going to be as hot as a front style turbo. That's going to put less stress on the resonator in terms of heat, so it SHOULDN'T be too much of an issue. STS recommended instead of using a resonator, use a straight flow through racing muffler.
