The kit is about $8k. A proper 3" exhaust is about $2k. Clutch is another $2k. That's $12,000 right there. Is there really another $8k that needs to be spent to do it "right"?
Edit: I know I left out installation and that alone is probably close to $3k when all is said and done. I do my own work so I didn't think about that part.

You can get away with a $1K 2.5" exhaust. Ofcourse you won't be making the same power as a 3" exhaust. You will definitely need gauges, sensors, oil cooling, shipping, labor (unless DIY). Adds up quick.

10k gets you a tune, upgrades are as you need them, oil cooler is right away along with some gauges. 3k for shipping? WTF, no.

Lets break it down
-TT kit: 8-10k for kit, 3k for install, 3k for needed upgrades - Total of 14k-16k
That is about what most have been paying to do a good clean install and be safe with proper upgrades.

-STS kit: 6.5k, 3k for install, 3k for needed upgrades, does the kit come with a tune if not a possible 1k there for tuning, unknown kit design with possible problems we will throw in another 1k - Total of 12500-14500
This is a untested kit on our car and clearly no support on the forum yet from the makers of this kit. Also, unwated low pipes on the underside of the car may cause issues down the road.

You are about right with your estimate, the 15k-17k number is thrown around because the first TT installs were about that. Though those guys all had shops do the work and did 'extras' that may not be required. Such as replace the stock gauges with aftermarket, a lot of labor to tear that down.

I am not putting this kit down or anything, but from the pictures I see, you get savings of around 2k for a single turbo setup that is under the car. I would spend the extra 2k on piece of mind and knowing I have good vendors here that support the current TT kits and will jump in to help in anyways possible.

Lmao.. 1k-1.5k to ship the car one way. Multiply that x2 = what? 2-3k, but yea driving it back might be better, but still gotta pay for gas.. right?
Brings your total to 19k+ lil shy under 20k right? Just a rough estimate.
Wasn't really an exact figure, but I was trying to say..
If this kit cost 3k for the universal + labor (should be lower since it's easier to install?) so around let's say 3k max for install and fabrication that's 6k spent. You can use the stock exhaust with this kit. still @ 6k.. + tune + upgrades.
If it's under 7-8k then why the hell would I spend 20k on the other one XD
Might as well buy another car with that 20k or make a down payment on a decent house.

This STS kit is $6500 where did you get 3k?
1k to ship, you are over paying, also you are in Texas, plenty of good shops around that you can drive to easily. Also, you said 6k total (assuming 3k for the kit ) and then tune plus upgrades is 7-8k. Upgrades are standard between the two kits, it is 3-5k for upgrades you might or will need.

The differences between these two kits are:
-Price for kit (6500 v. 8000): Also, what comes with this kit besides the piping and turbo? Do you get bigger injectors, fuel upgrades, etc.? If not, that is more you have to add to the STS price.
-Install (Unknown difference)

With either kit you are going to spend a minimum of $12,000 to get it on and running, after that you are on your own for upgrades or other items you need.

lol doesnt cost 1k for shipping. Its 6400 shipped to your front door. Install 3k for an install then you getting screwed. Average rate for labor is $99 an hour. So your saying 30 hours for install? idk. The kit comes with injectors and an upgraded fuel system. The only items you need is a camp hks 2 and a oil cooler.

30 hours of install sounds about right, since no need to drop the motor I would think, but I have never seen an STS system put together fully so not sure how easy/hard it is to route all the piping.
