Picked my car up from STS last friday so far so good it's my first turbo car so I don't have much to compare it to. drove approx 1000 miles to get back home and have been driving it a bit more aggressively since and so far no problems. They were able to get 452.49 H.P from baseline run of 298.34 and 390.13 torque from 236.58 at 7 p.s.i I am also running stillen headers and hi flow cats. I purchased the kit through Jamaica at UA motorsports and my experience dealing with him as well as sts was second to none. The only problem so far, for me anyways is it is very loud between 2800 rpm and 3400 rpm they told me I may want to put a resonator in and i definately think i will look at this option.

VIDS?! Congrats man :)

Congrats it's nice to hear from someone that has the kit I've spoken with Jam a few times and this is my first choice of FI. I would also like a clip of the kit in action. Is there a lot of rasp?

Chinook 08-21-2011 09:38 PM

There is quite a lot of rasp for a brief time in the power band at the 2800-3200 rpm mark, then the turbo kicks in and it kind of sounds like an exotic followed by the wonderful sound of the B.O.V. and when your slowing down for lights there is quite a nice rumble. I forgot to mention that the dyno numbers are from my car which was run with the base kit without the ball bearing turbo upgrade.

I am glad you have great numbers! You are a great customer and UAM values your business!

How many hours did it take them to install?

I have seen and heard Chinooks setup and I am impressed with the performance. However, the rasp and noise level of the exhaust at that 2500-3000 rpm range is quite distracting and excessive. A resonator would definitely help.

...but where to put it?

In between the exhaust manifolds and the turbo. You run risks of pieces of the resonator coming apart (which most likely won't happen) and sucking in to the turbo which will result in damage.

The turbo isn't creating the rasp... it's the serious lack of any type of resonation in the whole exhaust system.

Also, is there cats on this set up? Are there any safeguards against peices of the cat coming loose and getting sucked in to the turbo?

This whole setup is mind boggling. I want to see pictures of all the components not installed.

I am running Stillen hfc's After speaking with STS yesterday I had a baffle style resonator installed today. it sounds much better now. toned it down and now you can really hear the sound of the turbo being how its right at the tailpipes. So far STS has been very quick to respond to any questions i have had, their customer support seems to be great.
